Reminder that Void Elves should get normal hair in 9.1

You put way too much energy in trying to keep something as small as a hair color from being put into the game. So what’s YOUR problem?

Being able to make your character according to the fantasy you have for your character(s) is a big important part of (mmo)RPGs.

There is a service called racial change if you are not happy with some style options

Your ‘solution’ is throwing more money at Blizz?
Your ‘solution’ is changing race because of a hair color?
Really?

Really?

There is no alliance equivalent if one wants to play such an elf.
None.

Anyway… I’m done with this back-and-forth because it doesn’t even concern me. I don’t really care much about void elves. Just overal I’m in favour of more customization for each and every race. More choices is always good. Always.

I just try to offer you some kind of a solution. Maybe you should just transmog a nice helmet so you can’t see your unforgivable hair style

Do you read?

I just said:

Does this character look like a void elf in any way, shape or form?

Also, for the frickin’ Nth time:

Not style.

If you reply to this post again blatantly ignoring what I’m saying, I’m going to start reporting you for trolling, because nobody can be THAT ignorant.

You were editing your post. So write a bit faster next time. Also your picture references are not making you posts better about your wish of style options

Bronzebeard Dwarves have gained Wildhammer NPC customization options because they are of the same race (dwarf) and they are in the same faction (alliance). :face_with_monocle:

Void Elves should get the High Elf NPC customization options as they are of the same race (Thalassian Elves) and they are in the same faction (alliance) … :man_shrugging:

I hope the Allied races will receive their new customization options in the next expansion.

Ehhh, the problem there is that they are basically the same race, biologically, just with different Clan Ethos. There is no biological difference between a Bronzebeard and a Wildhammer.

That is where the problem springs up. They’re not like Bronzebeard and Wildhammer. Ren’dorei are entirely their own thing. They -Were- Thalassian Elves. In the same way that Blood and High Elves are biologically identical.
Void Elves however, are not biologically identical to either, and not the same race. To put it bluntly, the very building blocks of their bodies has been altered to even a cellular level. How do we know this? Leaving aside the weird tentacle stuff, their DNA has gone crazy, Thalassian Elves bleed red. Void Elves do not bleed red. They bleed bluey/purple. So at the very basic molecular structure level, they are no longer the same ‘race’. I mean that is exactly how it works. They were Thalassian Elves, who have undergone a magical accident that has changed their very biological structure. Every H. Sapiens Sapiens, whether white, black, asian, semitic, polynesian, mesoamerican all bleed the same colour.

Question remains, whether Void Elves are the same -Species- anymore.

To which the answer is “We don’t know”.

Species means that the two separate branches can mate and produce offspring, even if that offspring is sterile (Horses and Donkeys spring to mind). We have no idea if Void Elves are even capable of siring or gestating children (The sheer nightmare fuel of that being possible is up to 9000! ) . We do know that High Elves and Blood Elves can, We know that Elves and Humans can.

We don’t, and hopefully will never find out, whether Void Elves can, -even with other Void Elves!- (In the same way that Mules can’t breed with other Mules.)

So using the correct definitions, they are neither the same race, or even the same -species- as our current lore knowledge stands.

This is not saying that they shouldn’t get customisations, Sure, No problem with that. Just basically roll it out like this: anything Void Elves get, like hairstyles or Thalassian hair colours, for each customisation, the Blood Elves get one unique to them also. Ranger Warpaint, Arcane Runic Tattoos, braids and feathers. Little things that make sense thematically.

This would likely keep both sides happy. Void Elves who want to play as High Elves get Blood Elf Options to let them do so, and Blood Elf players don’t feel like anything is being stolen from them, because they are getting a new customisation also.

Sort of a Quid Pro Quo type thing. Keeps everyone happy.

That’d be the sensible way of doing it I reckon. Stops grumbling on either side of the fence.

People ask for high elf customization options to be able to make a “high elf / thalassian elf” or a “void elf like Alleria”.

Blizzard said the customization options don’t need to be explained, they’re just there so players can be whatever they want to be in the game (example, Wildhammer Dwarves).:face_with_monocle:

Kid you are so toxic and pathetic, go and play with your vulpera main in goldshire instead… what a sad joke you are.

Not exactly the first time people with stupid names as if they just blindly whacked a keyboard have made such comments. But I agree, you see a stupid character name and go "Oh dear, this is assuredly going to be a valuable contribution to the conversation, and not at -all- someone trying to look cool and ‘bad boy’ on the Internet. " Thankfully most grow out of it when puberty hits.

High/Thalassian Elf is cool. That is not a problem in my book. Alleria is however unique. No Playable Void Elf, nor even her -Co-Leader- Magister Umbric was created the same way she was. If people want to play their Void Elf as a High Elf for RP purposes, then more power to them, I say. If people are trying to say “I’m a Void Elf like Alleria” then that’s a bit dodgy, Lorewise. How long did they spend studying the Void? Where did they find a Naaru on Azeroth now that O’ros is dead? Moreover, where did they find a -Dark- Naaru on Azeroth? (There ain’t any of either type of Naaru on Azeroth).

Looking like a High Elf and playing it like a High Elf = Cool customisation choice.

Claiming to be just as unique and the same as a Lore character? Not so cool at all…

But yeah, give people Blood Elf hair options, on a Quid Pro Quo basis, Would keep everyone happy. Job’s a good 'un.

Not as unique as she claims.

Her style is based on Warcraft 2 High elves, which means any Void elf and Blood elf can wear tattoos too if they wanted. For some reason blizzard made it a Wildhammer thing, rather than a Thalassian thing.

Their style nowadays (like body jewelry, clothing, architecture, and even some of the hairstyles, and Hookah) tend to be heavily influenced by the Middle East cultures like Arabia and Persia. I guess they wanted the Belves to be unique rather than the generic LOTR style elves which take influence from Celtic culture.

And that was the original concept of Thalassians, being Celtic influenced and allying with the alliance.

I more meant Unique in the sense that she is the only Void Elf who became a Void Elf that way, hence her looking more like a High Elf.

Lets be honest here, much as it pains the Scottish half of me to say, it was because of ‘Braveheart’, because somehow in Mel ‘I hate the English, and Jewish people’ Gibson’s worldview, William Wallace wore woad and facepaint. Dwarves=Scottish and Scottish=Kilts and painting yourself blue. If you ask an American.

That’s why Wildhammer. Because the real irony of that whole idea is that it was the Briton Celtic tribes like the Votadini, Durovante, and yes, the Brigantes and Iceni who made the most use of War paint, So basically the area we know call England. The people who at the time lived in what we now call Scotland were not Scots at all, they were Picts. The Scots, were still living in an area of Northern Ireland called Dal Riada and were a tribe called the Scotti, who later invaded Alba (Modern Scotland) and drove the Picts to extinction.

Mel Gibson took a whole load of Pre-Roman British history, took a massive dump on it, and tried to give a sanitised version that Americans could understand. In the process really annoying the Hell out of the Scottish and the English, just about the only thing we will ever be unified on!

But yeah, that is why Wildhammer wear Woad, because of an Anglophobe Anti-Semite. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s the same for all Thalassian Elves, check out the Allerian Stronghold. Same styles and themes, and that was built -before- the Exile, when -everyone- was just a Thalassian, they only learned later when the Humans and Dwarves and Gnomes started coming through the Dark Portal in TBC, that there was now a ‘thing’ called Blood Elves.

Trust me, LOTR Elves are -Nothing- like the Elves from Celtic Culture. They’re their own thing, LOTR Elves are -nothing- like Elves from any culture that has elven myths. The Twlwyth Teg, Aos Sidhe, Tuatha de Danaan, Clurichaun, Beansidhe (Or ‘banshee’ if you prefer the English word) Ferryshin and Fomori would have looked at Tolkien’s elves and creased up laughing… Then sent a message to the Scandinavian Elven legends “Hey, You Lios Alfar, Drakalfar, Svartalfar, you got to come and see what they think we’re like, We’ll hold fire, If you want to tag the Dverga and Dwarves from your neck of the woods that would be awesome too, wait till they see what they think the Dwarves were like!”

Yeah, Tolkien butchered European folklore. And now everyone thinks Legolas and Gimli when thinking of Elves and Dwarves. Legend and Myth most definitely did not begin in 1954…

Original Elves and Dwarves would actually have been far more likely to be in the Horde, than the Alliance. Tolkien pulled a switcheroo, and took a dump on Mythology.

Ohhh that’s where your name comes from. Impressive!

It is indeed!

Thank you for replying, but please next time when you quote me please write something meaningful so I don’t waste my time over some random kid rage. :upside_down_face:

Mfw we have 4 flavours of elf and people still want more, mean while you have one of a kind races like worgen and forsaken with no allied race or any interesting depth when it comes to customisation, feels good man.

Oh it burgernate, hello, thank you for quoting and replying to yourself once again.

I finally got my own house but it took 2 years and a 9 hour camp when I spotted one available.

It’s by the water and the furnishings you can craft/buy are really lovely!

I repeat, the player can be whoever they want to be with the customization options, no need for explanation or logic.

Personally for my void elf, I’m just waiting for the hairdressers to learn how to do new hairstyles and supply themselves with new hair dyes for the next extension.
