Remove all transmog restrictions

Hi guys,

I want to put together the silver version of the D5 plate artwork for my warrior: Silver D5 Plate Artwork

While mogging, however, I noticed an obvious mistake that has not been corrected yet.

You see, the original breastplate artwork of this set would be Ornate Breastplate , but for some reason it is mail armor.

I would really like to transmog this breastplate, which is intended to be plate armor anyway, with my warrior.

But instead of adding a new plate armor with the same model, what do you guys think of the idea of just removing any restrictions on mogging altogether?

Or at least merge plate and mail armor, which would also be benefitial to the diversity of transmogs.

That’s why there are “cosmic” items…

You should be allowed to transmog items of your armor class and also all lesser armor classes.

Warriors should be able to transmog plate, mail, leather, cloth

Rogues should be able to transmog leather and cloth.

There is no reason why fighting with no armor is allowed by the transmog rules but wearing mail armor as a warrior should not be allowed.

True, Just wondering is the Op equipped the item as to place it in his collection.

Only if hunters are then given leather. I don’t want plate. Plate is ugly.

Honestly, I think they should do away with this armor type system and just go for the good old tried and true: Light, Medium and Heavy armor.

Warriors can only collect plate appearances.

Considering we have all-around Tmog now like the Trading Post “Sailor Moon”-love outfit etc, I 100% think tmog should just be allowed a free for all.

It’d be fun to be truly able to mix and match things.

Another 1+ would be if you could color change things… but that’s even beyond wishful thinking by now… :frowning:

That was one of the very few things i liked about GW2 when i tried it years ago. You could craft/buy dyes and have a whole colour pallette and colour your gear how you wanted, which made it very personal and unique.

It’s been a thing in plenty of games! Heck even Hellgate had it…!
Blizz specified they didn’t want a dye system tho, as they claimed it would cheapen outfits…

… meanwhile; Sailormoon Pink (Tradingpost) or Sailormoon Purple (Shop)
Annnd they can “milk” content much more by not letting people dye stuff, cause that means they just make the same armor with slightly different color scheme - rather than 4 different armor sets completely (LFR - Normal - Heroic - Mythic), heck even M+ stuff etc…

It feels very… cheap, yeah.

Agree. Funny to see such restrictions, when literally every class, even warriors can wear dresses from “Love is in the air” event, but… use mail armor? WHAT? Nah, denied.
Also, why do we have selective restrictions for holiday stuff? We can use flower crowns and costumes from Lunar Festival, dresses from “Love is in the air” whole year, but can’t use bunny ears and new year costume outside of Noblegarden and Winter Veil?

Always struck me as odd that Hunters don’t wear leather as standard.
Also for Shaman, they should really be wearing Furs (which are basically Leather).

Monks should really be wearing Cloth.

Just as cloaks can be used by all, I would like head slot to be like that.

Originally of course, they DID. Up to level 40. After that it changed to mail.
But yeah, leather fits SO much better with the whole hunter fantasy.

Head, Hands and Feet could be unrestricted without causing much (if any) controvesy. Maybe belts and wrists too.

Keep the core of the mog Shoulders, Chest and Legs as now.

I personally don’t see why there are any restrictions on transmog, there are many options that are denied to me by virtue of being a mail wearer.

Mail is easily the weakest of the types of gear for mogging.

I don’t see why it matters if my mail looks like leather or plate, since we’ve already established items can look different from how they are in their “factory” state.

Not to mention my current transmog doesn’t look anything like mail. yet it’s all mail items, so come on Blizzard, make this request happen.

Yes. But plate and cloth are the only ones i collect cuz i find mail\leather ugly (except some nice mog).
No means to be polemic here. Just diff POV.

Oh yeah, of course. My main point was getting rid of the current armor types and just using light, medium and heavy armor would be a better system, imo.

the issue is mostly the fact that when they changed armor types to be at level 1 (instead of needing level 40 to go from mail to plate as a warrior or leather to mail as a hunter) they never changed the armor types of the classic professions to match, they did change the quest rewards to immediately give plate

ideally they change the armor type from older profession crafted armor types like the ornate breastplate because now if you’re a blacksmith you can’t make anything usefull until you’re at relatively level 40 according to the old level cap, or in case of a mail class you can only make stuff until relatively level 40 according to the old level cap

Yeah, that is true. If your class can wear it, you should be able to transmog it.
