Please Blizzard, remove this mechanic from Frost Dk; It doesn’t fit Frost Dk and It made Frost clunky, Frost was one of the smoothest specs in the game, Remove it and buff Howling blast and make it a proper satisfying button again.(remove the hard cap from Howling blast Pls)
Rime used to be such a satisfying proc but now you ignore A PROC because the button it affects barely does anything.
- Change Remorseless Winter to be a strong AoE with a little longer CD.
- Frostschyte needs to be a strong ability by itself, not something you have to compliment with PoF and KM.
- Rime needs to be much stronger, it was the last talent for DK’s in Wrath, make it feel like a strong ability. Being specced into more damage in primary target with Rime should be equal to a KM Obliterate.
The reason we have Cleaving Strikes is thanks to Shadowlands.
It’s pretty nice and strong, but requires a bit of a build up to reach the same levels as some other classes pressing 1-2 buttons to deal the exact same AoE damage.
- Want to keep the D&D for Frost Dk? Make it into something you use to enhance all your AoE abilities. A soft sweeping strikes but for dks? (All enemies within D&D takes 10% of the damage done to the others)
There’s a lot of potential to change with the AoE kit for Dk’s to make it smoother.
I like the cleaving strike. Doing 100% of our Biffed Obliterate feel very satisfying. I agree about how clunky is getting the buff from d&d as frost. Even visualy it’s make me feeling big meh.
They could give us the cleaving strike through remorseless winter like many has suggested in the past.
Tbf Remorseless winter is at a decent state and doesn’t really need changing but Frostscythe and Rime need to be powered up if Cleaving strikes is to be gone.
The reason that I don’t like Cleaving strikes is, While it is powerful with Obliterates with KM and pillar; It’s one of the main reasons why Obliterate is weak without KM and pillar; If Obliterate cleaving is to be gone they can buff it to be a stronger main button.
Also enemies in dnd taking x% of damage is still clunky and still suffers from the same things, you can’t guarantee your tank in a pve environment to keep the enemies on one place for you to cleave them down much like the current Cleaving Strikes.
Based on how good Frost was both gameplay wise and performance wise in most of Legion, Frost doesn’t really need Cleaving Strikes in the first place.
It’s worth to mention that I am not really looking for Frost to be better performance wise because it already is at a good state(for now atleast); these changes are more of a gameplay changing suggestions(Buffing Howling Blast is supposed to be a compensation for the removal of Cleaving Strikes) which some ppl have been asking for sometime from Dragonflight till now.
Yeah, pretty much why i’d feel that Frostscythe needs to be stronger.

Making Obliterate deal Frost Damage baseline would be a great change too, with a few adjustments to even out the boost in damage it would get.
-
Howling Blast getting a CD but with much higher dmg, with Rime causing the CD to reset and cost no runes
They can make Frost scythe like Cleave is for warriors or Make DnD like how consecration works for Retri. There are many solutions to fix that.
Also another thing that bothers me is outside of Pillars of Frost how mediocre the dmg is. I hate stuff like that
Yes to these.
Yes many have suggested this indeed. I like to push this a step further and simply say that we need a new system for cleaving. Doesn’t matter what obli cleave is attached to, just don’t make us cleave like that. Let Obli be a pure ST destroyer. Reaper’s mark is already adding something nice to it. Give us a new cleaving system.
Let’s have frostscythe be the main cleaving powerhouse, glacial advance both the ability and the talent proc need to do more.
Why can’t these abilities interact with each other? Imagine Remorseless winter hits much harder but has a longer CD, but then every time we use FS or GA we knock 1 second off its CD or something like that. HB needs to be stronger baseline but then have some spicy procs that make it more interesting, instead of being a nearly completely useless ability to press without the proc.
Then there’s the eternal BoS debate which I think needs to drastically change too. Either the ability becomes mainline and we have talents that change its use to optimise for content, or simply get rid of it and add something new.
