Hi there. I suspect that some guilds aren’t replying because it’s the start of the tier and they’re perhaps waiting to let things settle down in their guild, to see what requirements they have. That’s certainly the main reason I’ve not been looking for additional members.

Tanks are also a difficult role to deal with from a guild/raid leader point of view because either they need one, so are desperately looking (although I find that less casual/social guilds (which is what it sounds like you’re looking for) look for new members on the Blizzard forums - it’s more often the more focussed guilds); or they already have enough and don’t want to upset what they have.

There is also the issue of your communication skills. Tanks generally need to be able to communicate with each other, and the mention of GPT chat I suspect also puts people off.

I’ll tell you a little bit about our guild and you can decide if we’re what you’re looking for.

We’re on Tarren Mill and are a casual/social guild that only runs Normal and Heroic raids.

We’re currently 9/9N and don’t intend to rush into heroic - that will come with time.

We raid twice a week - Wednesday 21:00 Server Time for 2.5 hours; Friday 21:30 Server Time for 2.5 hours.

We accept raiders to our raids on a first come, first served basis, with raids filling up fairly quickly at the moment. For example we have the next four raids (ie, the next two weeks) up on our calendar and they’re all full, barring one space next Friday (ie, not this week).

Those who don’t sign up in time get placed on Standby in case a spot opens up. We’re getting anything between zero to six on standby at the moment and we are trying to ensure that if someone misses one week, they’ll get to raid the next.

We don’t have any attendance requirements - you don’t have to attend X number of raids.

We don’t have any experience/knowledge requirements - other than you try to do a bit of research.

We don’t have any character requirements - ie, you don’t have to pick a “main” and stick to it, you don’t have to pick a role and stick to it.

Our only requirement (other than, if you sign up, you turn up), is ilevel based.

If you’re single role, you have to be prepared to be placed on Standby if others wanting that role signed before you.

We recommend anyone who is single role healer or tank, if they want to raid, has an off-spec or alternative character with a dps role, just so there’s a better chance of them getting a spot.

Our members like to collect things, pets and mounts; raid and do M+; collect transmogs; pick flowers and sing quietly to themselves (if we’re lucky … although we have had some singing in raids too … nothing tuneful, I’m sure!).

We have a “Mythic Monday” where people get together to do no-pressure and low-key runs to learn tactics, practice skills and experiment with routes.

We do have a bit of a lack of tanks currently - we have one tank who is currently signing regularly; we have one tank who is on holiday and has very odd shifts so can’t raid regularly; we have one tank who isn’t particularly reliable at turning up or signing up. And we have a few people who have tank off-specs so, in a pinch, we have people who can tank if needed.

We can’t guarantee a tank spot for every raid, but there is a good chance that there will be a tank spot available fairly regularly.

Thank you very much, it’s really a good thought that casual guilds wouldn’t be looking on forums, I will consider this.

Regarding communication with a tank, my issue is more about fluent communication. But I compensate for this by learning tactics. I can handle basic communication well, maybe just have some issues with timing)))

I find your model of assembling a raid very interesting, it seems to fit me well.
I’m fine with going 9 out of 9 in normal.
If I wanted more progression, I have Ukrainian friends for that.
For me, it’s a way to be in an English-speaking environment.
