If you’re unable to control bots and mass creation of botting accounts then faction locking for balance has no place in the game.
Last night I resubbed my second account with the intention of lvling 2 characters at the same time on LW Horde side. I was messing around at the starter zones trying out a few different class combinations for tabbing between screens and could create Horde characters on my second account. I deleted the characters afterwards having not decided on what I wanted to lvl. I logged off around 12pm and tried to create a new character this morning to find that LW Horde is now faction locked only 7 hours later.
How is it possible that over night during the small hours of the morning the Horde faction went from being open to locked in 7 hours?
There has been a huge uptick in the amount of GDKP spam in LW over the last week or so and I can only assume that the botters are anticipating an increased demand for gold in the coming weeks. Having checked the gold prices yesterday due to having a disagreement regarding GDKP with someone on the forums I also noticed this morning that the price of gold has went up by around $40 per 1k gold overnight also. Again another indicator of increasing demand for gold.
Stop punishing players because you can’t control or implement any suitable methods to sort the game out. Horde used to be the faction with a lower population in comparison to Alliance in LW and now it’s the dominant faction just as we see a massive uptick in GDKP??? Yeah I don’t think it’s a coincidence at all that bots are literally ruining every aspect of the game and it’s again being driven by the mass hysteria of GDKP.

Faction locks done a better job of balancing servers then prior iterations by a absolute mile

Blizzard have a dynamic locking system. This can be avoided by not deleting all your characters, it’s that simple.
Whenever it’s open next just leave one character on there on each account and your problem is solved.
The realm is currently unlocked but may be faction locked. I have a character on all the PvP realms on both of my accounts for both factions in case I want to go and get ganked.
Didnt know living flame unlocked tbh. Haha
The OP said Lone Wolf (LW).
Yeah I realise this I just didn’t think it would go from open to locked in like under 8 hours over night lol, especially with it historically being the under represented faction on LW. I was basically just creating characters with random meaningless names that’s pretty much why I deleted them. I will however leave one in the future now I know that it can go from open to closed in a matter of hours overnight.
Players are using scripts to auto spam logging in and making a level 1 aswell as bots tbh, so it rly doesnt suprise me.
I always thought Horde players were the majority on most PvP realms, unless they are like the Wrath realms and one sided.
I’m sure at some point Alliance was faction locked on LW and I seen a few posts in the past about the amount of items on AH for each side. That was a while ago now pre Pally nerf so I guess it’s possible that Horde is now the biggest faction.
I still think it’s due to the huge increase in GDKP over the last week or so on LW. It’s literally went from a few random GDKP posts to like 50% of the BFD groups in LFG are now GDKP. The price of gold increasing overnight is definitely another indicator for me that people are actively buying gold for GDKP. Obviously this is a good opportunity for botters to increase their presence in LW so I’m not surprised it’s been locked if there’s lots of new accounts being created.
I could be wrong but it just seems to be too much of a coincidence that all these things are in a way connected to each other.
Are u talking about lone wolf?.
Lone wolf has never been locked? Outside the very first tjme for a super short period of time
I literally just created a horde character on Lone Wolf. Maybe it was locked for 15 minutes and you instantly went in and created a forum post or maybe I got lucky, but you can go just now and create a character. The faction balance Blizzard did is one of the best things they came up with this season. If it wasnt for it, now you’d be complaining that servers are mono-sided
One day you’ll all understand that Living Flame being locked is not that bad, and people would want Lone Wolf to get locked as well, but untill then enjoy hating me and calling me sellfish
Blocking Living Flame is the best thing that happened to the server. The number of bots is fixed and will decrease with each ban.

Yeah, finally some people who can use their heads ! Stay safe buddy !
The horde faction creation was locked from around 7am to 5pm a few days ago. Unlocked now obviously
please block lone wolf too. its completly out of control with bots!!
I agree.
But what if Blizzard could do a preventive job at tracking bots or improving Warden and then, unlocking LF for a day or two, announcing it 1 week beforehand? That would let people play in Living Flame (or other locked servers ofc), dealing with the bot threat shortly, solving both problems at once?
About faction lock, in my opinion, it is ok to keep it as it is. Having a faction unlock would kill abit of the Classic essence. Taking as example Retail WoW; factions mean nothing, which is bad for the game, even if it has alot of QoL involved.
