Remove Heirloom armor and make a tabard (or shirt) instead that you can upgrade, equivalent to the total amount of XP that the heirloom armor would provide.
Pros
Dungeon, Quest and BOE Gear will be more useful and meaningful to obtain while levelling.
How about when the update takes effect, you can trade your heirlooms in (and lose the armor piece in the Heirloom tab) for the gold equivalent that you spent on upgrading them?
P.S Heirloom weapons are alright, but if they had to remove them too, I guess I wouldn’t mind.
I translated this as: “I don’t have or don’t want to spend gold on leveling heirlooms up and I don’t want to do the extra work for the harder to get heirlooms.”
As someone who has gotten almost all their heirlooms and upgraded many of them to 120 I can say that they are helpful, but besides that they allow you keep one good transmog appearance from 1 to 120. And you can unlock ones via additional routes, like PVP and so on (more things to do - good.)
Well not all slots give XP like weapons and trinkets and not all slots are covered by loom thus giving you the option of having more “meaningful” gear.
Didn’t say I can’t handle the debate, I’m just saying that why would anyone get excited over a minor gear upgrade such as bracers, belt, boots and gloves while levelling when the major pieces are all heirlooms that scale up with you?
If we want to improve levelling in retail WoW then we can’t just add more to heirlooms like Blizzard seem to love doing.
I’d far rather keep my heirlooms. I like being able to mog most of my chars from the start. I like that I have all the rings that not every one has and that’s a nice bonus. (An extra 10% for having two rings.)
I just want glove and boot looms now, so I can mog a full set!
If you want gear gained while levelling to be meaningful. Then you’re going to have to opt for slower levelling I’m afraid. But on the plus side, that makes the gear more meaningful too. As right now, even if it’s meaningful, it’s only that for a couple hours, till you out level it dramatically again.
I prefer the stats that increase automatically as you level and being able to keep the same transmog (mostlly) from 1 to 120. And them boosting exp gains helps too.
Heirlooms has nothing to do with quests rewards and leveling being trash, if anything Blizzard needs to go back to the drawing board and overhaul the leveling experience completely and make a much better job at it and when they are at it smooth it out through expansions and think about heirlooms and where they fit into the picture but just removing them wouldn’t do anything but annoy a lot of people.
