I firmly believe a good “‘middle-ground” would be to remove Heirlooms while retaining the Joyous Journeys buff.
Heirlooms destroy the fun of getting upgrades for the additional XP boost.

I think Joyous Journeys should stay but also heirlooms, they just can’t stack.
Not getting other upgrades is just a voluntary choice.
It’s one of the few things that emblems are actually good for, the 80 gear is mostly meh.

The 50% exp buff will not be present on Wotlk launch, but the heirlooms will probably stay.
