Remove or change Roll the Bones

I saw you are trying to change dreadblades and the change is welcomed although the long cd might not really even bring it on par with alacrity, we should see in practice. id have to say it looks interesting as you made it.

There is another skill though which actually determines our DPS and that is Roll the Bones.
It is a another fundamental design failure of yours which you deny to accept in public.
Playing a class which you leave a basic DPS modifier in RNG…its just …wont type the words as ill get banned. In addition this RNG modifier you are trying to fix by adding temporary powers like conduits instead of fixing the mechanism.
I have no idea which of your designers think that playing ANY class with RNG modifiers is good. And i have no idea why this person is working in the game industry anyway. To make things even better you have made the RNG button to spend energy and to be on the GCD. We are talking such retarded design which is being accepted for years from the project manager you have.
ROLL OF THE BONES SHOULD BE REMOVED. IT IS NOT EVEN A ROGUE SKILL. we are not Joker or Riddle to deal with dices or cards “ohh hey i got 4 of a kind yeeehh give me a good buff” come on guys get a grip. Remove the god damn RNG.

Same crap you did with the Raid this time. all the world race and whatever was based on RNG domination shard drops. Whats the matter with you and the RNG really? These new people that added to your team seem a bit better in thinking and designing thank God, but I ll give you an advice for all designers and developers: START PLAYING THE GAME YOU MAKING…cause years now…you dont…seems like you create here and playing Final Fantasy…

i like my rogue but roll the bones is the major reason i wont play that spec its like a lottery.

Roll the bones is another example of Blizzard prioritizing fanatasy over the gameplay experience of the players.

I completely get that WoW should have RP elements and that fantasy is something to consider… but GAMEPLAY should ALWAYS be the main priority of a video game. And the gameplay experience with Roll the Bones simply sucks.

Also Alacrity is a horrible talent. It’s basically essential to have for Outlaw and Assa. So we never really have a true choice to pick anything else in those rows.

its really simple to fix actually, take it off the global cooldown and remove the randomness of how many it procs, just make it always 2 random buffs

IMO, Roll the Bones is trying to do too many different things. In concept, the idea that you have to adapt your playstyle depending on the buffs you get is fine, but there’s just too many options and combinations of things there, and they just can’t be balanced.

An easy fix would be to reduce the buff options to 4, and only ever have 2/4 active. This way you could at least balance the buffs against each other, and you would feel more in control of your own performance, instead of it being something the game decides for you. It’s kinda how the Corruption effects in BfA could be insane damage, but they were totally RNG dependent, and what you did had no actual effect on whether or not you got them.

Also, things like SnD and Alacrity really reduce the feeling of control you have over your performance. They are not fun to use, but still mandatory. They feel like a penalty, not a reward for being good.

I mean Roll The Bones is a great ability, or atleast it could be a great ability. It just needs to be a little bit more consistent so you can actually have control over your own performance.

Making Loaded Dice baseline, the way it was in Legion, would be a great start. Would also make Adrenaline Rush not feel as meh as it does.

The issue I have with Loaded Dice, it’s designed to fix a broken ability. It was created specifically to address the issue of overt randomness in outcomes, when using a core rotational ability.

When an ability doesn’t really do what it needs to do by default, that shouldn’t be fixed by creating a new modifier to complicate issues, but instead, simplify the baseline design of the ability. The more modifiers are added in, the more complex balancing things becomes. This is actually one of the reason why I think they should remove 2 buffs from RtB, and always only proc 2/4 buffs. Remove unnecessary randomness and complexity, and instead invest in giving the Player more control over their own gameplay and numbers. Gaming just feels better, when you feel like you are the one in control, instead of the game taking you on a ride.

As I initially said when I started this thread: ANY RNG skill that is having such a big impact on DPS should be REMOVED COMPLETELY or CHANGE COMPLETELY. There is no partial fix/alter for such things.
