I´m a Mythic RWF raider. Recently Blizzard decided to remove weapon tokens from raids in Shadowlands (BIIG mistake). This is adding more RnG to loot, when what we should be aiming for is ZERO RnG when it comes to loot. Here´s my tragic tale…
My 9.0 Raid Story
It was the first week of mythic raiding in 9.0. I had one competitor in our roster who would play the same spec. I am the better player. I generally do 0.5 % more DPS than my competitor. I am the better player.
Tragedy… however… had already struck before the first week of mythic raiding begun. Because my opponent, my enemy, if you will, had gotten very lucky with gear drops, unlike me, so he had an entire 2 ilvl advantage on me. As we approached the first mythic boss I was panicking, I knew I was the better player, but how was I supposed to beat him when he unfairly had higher dps from gear than me? Then the fight began…
I could see him beating me on the DPS meters. I was starting to cry, I was clearly outplaying him, but it didn´t matter… To make the situation worse the raid team were all complimenting him ´´Wow you are really destroying the boss!!´´, I kept trying to remind them that I was only being outdone because of random gear ´´Hah, yeah nice DPS bro, you really doing well with the gear´´. It didn´t seem however that my guild mates understood what I was trying to say. ´´Holy S#%&, nice DPS, really poppin´ off this tier´´ they would say. With tears in my eyes I screamed ´´YEAH NICE DPS, BEATING ME BY 2 %, INCREDIBLE WHAT UR COOL GEAR COULD DO´´. Maybe the guild got the point, that I was better, only beaten by gear. Maybe they didn´t? After this they remained silent on the issue. I was the better DPS player, maybe they realized I was the more powerful Discord player too?
It didn´t improve my unfortunate situation however, I was emotionally ruined. I went to bed entirely naked, my entire body was in shock, I was constantly trying not to be sick, but to no avail. Tears and vomit would fill my bedsheets that night. A grown A#¤ man, sleeping in my own bodily fluids, because WoW had ruined the experience for people like me, elite raiders, physically and mentally, who deserve to do more DPS then my lesser-skilled opponents.
The Solution
The solution? Simple, remove loot drops from the gear. I still like gear, it shows who the best and most dedicated players are, however the randomness should be removed. So I suggest that every raid boss drops a token called RAID LOOT TIER 9.2. This token is the only thing that drops, and it drops for every raid member after killing every boss. The tokens can then be exchanged for gear, which allows every person of the same spec to have the exact same optimal gear progression, which allows in fairness for performance in raids.
The same should of course be added to M+, and the weekly chest should be removed. Instead both should be dropping tokens based on difficulty of said content. It would be cool and exciting if M+ dropped something like ´Token of M+ 9.2´, which could then be exchanged for trinkets. Imagine the thrill, every token that drops you know that you are closer to getting your BiS trinket, knowing that no one will get it faster than you, because there is no RnG, it is just a matter of skill, a matter of who is faster at clearing m+ dungeons to get the tokens. Just thinking about it brings me joy.
Conclusion
Blizzard need to do more for the 0.1 % of players. At the moment we basically carry the entire game on our metaphorical backs. The game has pandered to us for the last 4 years, and the game has never been more popular. Just think about how popular the Race to World First is on Twitch. With this last change, the removal of RnG from loot, we will finally have the perfect MMORPG, where everyone knows with absolute certainty who the better DPS player is, and the fraudsters who got lucky will be found out and get wrecked on the DPS meters like they deserve.
