Nobody except a minor few enjoyed having to do these PVP tasks for the meta, and it blocked many people from obtaining the Violet Proto-Drake and Matron/Patron title.
As a refresher, this is what the achievement requires:
Assault a flag in Arathi Basin with your Orphan.
Capture the flag in Eye of the Storm with your Orphan.
Return a fallen flag in Warsong Gulch with your Orphan.
Assault a tower in Alterac Valley with your Orphan.
Obviously these objectives would always be heavily contested and if you were not good at PVP or a stealth class, it was really hard to complete. Didn’t make it much better that the Orphan loved to despawn at random times, so even if you could get to the objective, your Orphan might’ve bailed on you and you wouldn’t get credit still.
I think it would be a big mistake if School of Hard knocks remained part of the Meta for WOTLK. It is far more annoying/hard than the other holiday PVP achievements, which just require 50 HK’s with a specific item/appearance, and by far the hardest holiday achievement in general.
So let’s start this discussion early so by the time Children’s Week rolls around, we won’t have to worry about this roadblock.
lol what, those are some extremely easy challenges to meet. “Please could you just award me the full list of achievements for logging into the game” The hardest ones are actually probably the halloween ones with the wands and pumkins, just because it requires co-operation with other players.
This one can be done solo, which makes it super easy. All of them are easy if you actually make the slightest effort.
Hehe! I had my son do these and similar fpr me in OG Wrath. I am no PvP palyer at all.
What about G.N.E.R.D. rage for Hallow’s End then? Is that removed as well?
This counts for any player getting a kill around you, so if your team kills 10 players near you, you get 10 HK’s. AV and SOTA get this finished really fast. Hard Knocks only counts for 1 player and everybody will be going for these objectives, even if they’re not going for the achievement, which is what makes it so annoying.
Entirely RNG-based achievements have no place on the meta, School of Hard Knocks is not entirely RNG and can easily be completed by ANYONE who puts in the time.
I’m just salty for still not getting Sinister Calling after pretty much nolifing since hallow’s end.
It’s not impossible to do the achievement.
The main issue is that you have massive amounts of competition.
So I’d honestly recommend trying to find a premade for 3/4 of them and hope for the AV one lol.
Will do in a year, maybe … sigh.
