Straight up remove Tyran/Fort from M+ They aren’t needed. They aren’t fun.
Last week we had bolstering with fortified and it wasn’t a fun week imo. Having to pull multiple packs to make time for 18+ keys can be quite tricky in this season with so many casters, swirlies on the floor and AoE hits. This week we have quaking which is an absolute joke on some fights. (Looking at you Hyrja and Balakar) As a tank in M+ there is literally nothing I can do for the fight. I just have to pray the DPS and healer outperform the fight while I just eat dmg like I’m famished.
To put it in prospective a +10 is 85% inc dmg and health from a mythic 0. 15 is 198%. 20 is 380%. Then add the scaling from Tyran/Fort. in Shadowlands those same key levels were 85%, 172%, 270% respectively so basically the DF scaling alone is like having both tryannical and fortified on at all times. On top of that we had seasonal affix’s we could actually use retroactively instead of being on an unreliable timer that almost always procs towards the end of a pack.
TL/DR this season is by far the worst M+ seasons I’ve played. Scaling is too high and seasonal affix is awkward to play around.
If we removed tyrannical and Fortified we could replace them with some new affixes. Come up with some fun new affixes to play with. Blizz have removed Overflowing, teeming, skittish, Necrotic and Inspired since Legion and I’d rather play with all of them on top of the other 2 affixes than play tyran/fort keys.
With the new scaling especially fortified gets overwhelming too soon, its kind of a joke how on a 20tyra mobs do literally 0 dmg, on 20 forti just randomly start oneshotting ppl. I think they should remove every affix except the seasonal one. None of the affixies make the dungeons more fresh on weekly basis. Its just annoying for everyone.
Here are on my thoughts on every affix and why it is bad:
Forti/Tyra generally garbage makes scaling go out of hand.
Sanguine: would be the best if the mobs wouldnt have uninterruptable casts and afk in sanguine pools, espcially in Nokud + Ruby.
Explosive: Kills the best thing in m+, pulling huge also just annoying to deal with.
Bursting: also annoying + requires one fix spot in the group for a priest.
Storming: Simply just annoying no point to its existence.
Spiteful: its really fun to get randomly 1 tapped as melee dps.
Quaking: really bad design, there is no fun in getting spell locked because you want to play the game.
Volanic: Literally meaningless, since you have to move so much as a caster in dungeons anyways.
Grievous: Harder to heal it out on some healers than the whole dungeon.
Raging: I would say is the most neutral. But since everyone minmaxes also requires a fix spot for hunter/evoker/dudu.
Bolstering: Also kills the big pulls however this version is a million times better then what we had at the start of SL.
These affixies dont bring any freshness to the dungeons just frustration. Most affixes are just cheesed anyways so they lose any relevance.
However if the affixies would work on mobs( for example they get dmg from bursting too, players get a dmg boost when under 30% not 50% but like 10% or quaking damaging mobs aswell ) that would be so much more fun.
While I agree somewhat I don’t think removing all the affixes is the play.
Sanguine is definitely more frustrating this season with all the casts but it mostly comes down to a skill issue from tanks and DPS. If there’s a mob with an uninterruptable channel/casts it’s the tanks job to move adds away before they die and DPS shouldn’t be CCing them beforehand.
Explosive weeks do kill the buzz since it’s often too spicy to pull big for obvious reasons. They should cap the number of explosives that can spawn and put a CD on them spawning again or you get the ultra “fun” and engaging gameplay loop of the healer only popping explosives and never having a spare global to heal…fun and engaging indeed, Blizzard.
Bursting forces you to play with a priest so if you’re a full 5 without a priest…lol gut gud scrub…fun and engaging.
Storming doesn’t work this season at all…with all the frontals, position requirements and swirlies on the ground it just is not fun nor engaging.
spiteful mobs shouldn’t do even half the dmg they do now. Spiteful spawns and those aforementioned positioning requirements get a little spicy because DPS will have to kite or waste a stun otherwise 80% of their health is gone which in this season is a death sentence.
Quaking simply doesn’t work this season. It’s a spanner in the cog.
Volcanic is basically a none affix.
Grievous just puts extra pressure on healers for no reason. More scaling on top of scaling.
Raging is horrendous in Temple. Last pack can deal up to 2mil dmg to tanks if all the casts go off at once as well as the lesser shas bursting for 50% extra party wide dmg. Laughable.
Bolstering is in a good place atm. I wouldn’t change it but most of the affixes, especially for this season, need a rework or flat out removal.
Ohhhhh Thundering…is probably the worst seasonal affix they’ve added. Tied with prideful. It is clunky, can’t be played around and has very little benefit to the key. The amount of times it’s procced literally as the last add dies is a joke.
