Why are add-ons allowed in this game? In other competitive games, they are considered cheats, but here they are permitted. Why is that?
Remove AH add-ons. They make the Auction House slow and unusable for everyone else because 20% of all players generate more than 80% of the AH traffic!
Allowing add-ons in this game creates serious issues, especially in PvP. Players are forced to spend hours learning, configuring, and updating add-ons just to stay competitive, shifting the focus from skill to managing these tools.
Mid-battle errors often lead to forced reloads and lost fights.
Add-ons are further widening the gap between inexperienced and experienced players. Pros use these add-ons more effectively, which only increases the disparity.
In the Auction House, a small group of players using add-ons overwhelms the system, making it slow and frustrating for everyone else. A simple purchase can take 30 minutes, only to find the item unavailable due to add-on-induced delays. This also contributes to a bigger gap between casual and dedicated players.
for us mortal is just a game
then blizzard can fix the UI, is simple, you donât need to have all that info, that is not FUN
game == fun, improve that
This, tbh they probably realized at some point that it was better to introduce add-ons as a tools, they would ââ waist time ââ and money working on that ; while people are doing the job for them and for free (and probably in better ways).
I did not play the game when it was released, but I can imagine it went something like thisâŠ
âWhile we are damaging ads in the dungeon imagine if we could track who was doing the most damage so we can make a fun/competitive style chart for the group.â
or
âIt would be nice if I could move my frames to make it easier to heal.â
This quickly moved onto what other additions can we bring into the game to âhelpâ<----- (important) me/my group when we are playing the game. Now we have, an addon which can change the entire UI, show your own abilities (larger) AND enemy ability cooldowns (every ability as well, not just major/off abilities), an addon which will TELL you when your enemy has used their offensive or defensive ability (I mean what is an IGL anyway). and an addon which every raider uses that tells them to move or what major boss damaging ability is coming next.
They are allowed in the game because they are helpful and cool, useful and can be the difference between winning (completing a raid or winning an RBG/arena game) or losing.
I have no doubt in saying that the less addonâs the better the individual player. IF they are tracking and making calls themself then there is no question that they are the players you want to play with and want to watch. I will say that the game itself is VERY difficult to watch in both PvE and PvP⊠Itâs not like an FPS where it is quite easy on the eyes for the most part, it doesnât involve huge amounts of focus ALL the time to understand what it going onâŠthis team is up âXâ rounds, this team is playing this teamâŠthen sit back relax and watchâŠpoint and shootâŠbomb plantsâŠoffensive/defensive pushes and clutch plays. To relax and enjoy World of Warcraft is another thing.
For a Twitch streamer or YouTuber, seeing the addons make the game more aesthecally pleasing (AT TIMES⊠ooooo cool, check all these buttons and all the corodinated addon unison that is going on).
Some AH addons are useful, although if there are players who enjoy manually clicking through everysingle mat they have farmed and playing the AH game then unfortunately, they will not be able to. IF somebody can click a few buttons and it is auto-sorted and designed then there is no room n the modern game for somebody who previously enjoyed playing the AH.
Blizz just need to disable addons that track stuff and announce things, gladius Weak auras and other stuff need to be disabled.
Simple stuff like Bartender or replacement for unitframes can stay, it doesnât hurt the game.
But all those million trackers and audio announcers must go.
Quite simply put and I agree with the most part. Gladius that tracks trinket and diminishing returns is extremely borderline⊠should a top tier level PLAYER who is competing in AWC every week not require diminishing returns tracking. Yes. Trinket, no.
All other full UI changes are not major for a pvp enthusiast as they are tracking other things, but for Blizzard and World of Warcraft as a game they are USEFUL to enhance aesthetics and improve game attractiveness.
Everyone here will tell you that you cant play the game without addons so you cant remove them, instead of saying the logical answer and ask blizzard to fix their messed up deisgn and design the game so it can be played without addons, which is what any serious competent company would do.
And then they want to try to become an esport with such trash game design lol yeh.
I have never seen an esport so badly designed and unaccessible and that requires such an overload of third party modification.
Its one of the reasons why pvp is dead. People are not gonna play something they cant follow and watch on stream or youtube because it looks like crap and not fun at all, so obviously they will never play it.
But Blizzard would rather cater to a handful of diehards than to make wow pvp an actual attractive thing for a new audience and grow the space.
WoW PvP is always attractive to a competitive player, they will however think otherwise when they realise that the day to day game play involves something other than skill or hard work to achieve a higher rating. The game CAN be played without addons and players WILL improve without full dependency on addsons. I can say that from experience removing ALL addons and simply playing the game being a better play.
I have the luxury of being taught how to play by a mythic raider for several seasons/expansions who did advise me on what add ons to use. I can comfortable say they are not better than me as a player now and I do not need add ons which is majorly important in this game as an individual. We must remember that the game is constantly changing and players will come and go.
The standart UI needs trackers of at least DR and Trinket. They are a core mechanic of WoW pvp and not beeing able to see them would make the game miserable. Trinket might be somewhat ok missing as itâs a major cooldown that could be remembered but with the amount of micro CC we have, no DR tracker would be unplayable.
Most Off/Def cds have very visible animations but not all of them so that would require some changes as well.
Visible trinket on arena frames is available, not in world pvp or rated battlegrounds though.
Diminishing Returns, it slightly more complicatedâŠso it would seem anyway. There is a valid argument that a competitive team OR team pushing for a higher rating (upper bracket) should communicate with each other on DR tracking to prepare crowd control accordingly. With the release of âSolo shuffleâ, it would suggest they are pushing the player to concentrate more on an individual vs non-human players even in arena games. Otherwise, they would not introduce a rated player vs player category called⊠Solo shuffle. Players would simply queue into LFG and select different team compositions to try playing with instead in either Skirmish or Rated 2v2/3v3. This still wouldnât require a DR tracker as an individual as it IS possible to manually track your own or team mate DR timersâŠalbeitâŠEXTREMELY demanding in a 3v3.
Iâm not too sure if the game will be miserable because of a lack of DR tracker, I would sayâŠmore complicatedâŠmore demandingâŠhigher individual and team skill level for sure.
I disagree. In both, a non communication environment like solo shuffle and premade ladders, you NEED to know enemy DRs to be able to effectively use your CC and there are a lot of different DR timers for different groups of CC. It makes a huge difference if you stun/fear someone one a 50% or even 75% DR or someone who isnât on DR at all, deciding the outcome of the game in many situations.
With the amount of short duration micro cc we have, there is simply no possible way to have a timer in your mind that keeps track of multiple DR durations on multiple enemies and teammates for effective offensive and defensive play. Might work in 2v2 with certain class comps, but definitely wonât work in 3s and shuffle or any BG.
So many matches would end on a random base because you got lucky to land a no DR stun/fear or vice versa, tried to use stuff on a full DR enemy. Sure someone with a photographic memory could keep track of it but lets keep the game entertaining for 99.99% of the playerbase as well
