Fyi, the daily emissaries give boxes also, what comes out of that can be utterly disappointing which happens often. There’s a pattern there in what comes out of those boxes which i had in an extreme way on my lock.

I was getting exactly the opposite secondary stats that my lock with his spec needs no matter the spec specialization. So i’m faced with either raise my ilvl on him and make my game-play on him horrible or stay with the lower gear with the correct stats which causes a full stop on my progression on him. I don’t play him very often anymore.

What’s happening to my lock happens to my tanks aswell, they don’t give a flying F about the game having not enough tanks, let the dps gear com in when ur in blood spec plus specialization set that way and on my plate dps it’s exactly the other way around.

But sometimes i get lucky, i guess it’s supposed to make me forget about all the wrong loot and effort i put in that, as you can see, i didn’t and i won’t.

First they show what you get from doing X emissary:like zandalari emissary 415 weapon for my spec i do not see box here,or champions for AP i do not see box here so ? unless you do paragon boxes which gives gold and resources and chance for toy so first wrong.
Stats are not randomized on gear unless you do emissaries which shows X i lvl of weapon and this have predetermined stats same with armor, so again false.

I open journal see X item from Y boss has Z stats and it drops with these stats which it shows so ?

The emissaries show up in the map, i’m not talking about WQ’s.

When there’s a piece of gear reward from the emissary it shows like a box saying a piece of gear or azerite gear or a weapon or a ring/trinket for your specialization and then you end up with a versatility item on a dps spec that needs crit/mastery/haste, the versatility replacing your most wanted stat. On my blood dk (tank) it’s the same but the other way around, getting crit/haste gear replacing my last bits of versatility on him.

The boxes you see in the map when hovering over the emissary don’t show gearstats, the WQs however do.

Edit ps: I’ve had shields and 1h’s on this dps char from the emissary rewards with her loot specialization set on fury, how cool is that?

I am really not one of the smartest people out there, but even i now that when the OP said “lootbox” he was referring to RNG mechanics as a whole.

It is kinda a box,and it has couple of layers of rng in it.The Emissary reward.First off you get lets say the Trinket/Ring version you dont know what will it be 1.rng 2.what secondary stats you will get 3.will it wf,tf socket or ilvl or indistructable.
So yea i kinda see what Shioban is try to say.
Same thing if we are talking about Emissary reward from an Azarite Peace,i cant even say how many times i got lets say a chest,and i needed a head or shoulder.

The only good thing out of this is that the Paragon rewards no longer give mounts,like the Legion crap they made.They should add a pitty timer or vendor,if you turn in 10 Paragons you get the mount.
Legion was fixed the moment they add the Legendary vendor currencies in prepatch for BFA,lol.

I think the lock boxes that were in the original game would like a word with you. From what I remember only about 1 in 20 had anything useful in them and unless you had a friendly rogue available then it would usually cost you more to unlock the things than what the contents were worth they were still technically loot boxes.

Simple solution to the rng of 2ndary stats: use titan residium, an already ingame currency, to ‘re-map’ one 2ndary stat, add sockets etc. Then you have a trade off of ‘do i want my bis azerite piece/upgraded az piece or remap some other item to be better 2ndaries?’

Rng must be kept an integral part of the game (as with all MMORPG’s). Otherwise we have the issue of ‘i got my bis now theres nothing to do for half a patch’.

Imo adding the above keeps the rng element but allows you to grind away to get better 2ndaries and sockets.

Well lets see. I will list what i enjoy doing in a game and you tell me reasons i should hate it

-Retri paladin: i am really enjoying ret in BFA. Almost all talents are viable so we aren’t locked to certain build. We have a lot of utility, healers love our wisdom. We are viable in m+, both our AOE and ST damage is good.

Raids: I enjoy both HC and mythic raiding and raid and boss design from Blizz never disappointed me. I enjoyed Uldir, BDA, COS and EP os pretty good.

M+: Well let me simply tell you like this: Weekend, sitting on discord with friends, sipping on Coke with ice and running keys. I didn’t like Ghuun affix from s1 that much but both Reaping and Beguiling are fun to deal with

Emissaries, WQs, reps: This isn’t something i will praise as best feature ever its just something i don’t mind doing. I prefer WQs over daily q hubs. I prefer curent rep system over"run dungeon over and over killing thousands of mobs for rep".

Island expeditions and warfronts: Again.something i like doing with friends which would be probably boring doing alone. But i have no reason to do it alone.

Collections: I collect mounts, pets and toys and on this front Blizzard never failed to deliver.

Pet battles: I am enjoyin them and i am glad Blizz made them relevant im 8.2

Azerite armor: Between release of BFA and releasr of Uldir i disliked it. Ret ones were pretty bad on start and we needed Dagger in the back to be competitive. However Uldir traits were pretty good and 8.1 rework made Azerite armor far better than old tier sets.

Communities: I like this system, i am member of few great communities and one even helped me a lot on my alts and with some Glory achivs i never thought i would do. Also met a lot of great people thanks to it.

I enjoyed Mechagon, Nazjatar, Drustvar, Tirigarde zones and overall BFA storyline. I loved all cinematics they released.

Ok break is over , gotta get back to work, but i can continue list later. These are just some of things i love in BFA

Just so we are clear,the thread is about rng in gearing and in other parts of the game,like IE having rng drops for mounts,gear,toys,pets and no vendor to buy them,or having pvp vendors like we had since WoD.

I agree ret is in a nice spot.Better then the judgment then dump holy power we had in Legion.But it kinda reminds me of WoD ret where we where fishing for DS procks.Thoe gcd made Prot unbarrable for me to play,and i’ve been maining paladins since Wrath.

No one said the raids are bad,boss mechanics and comps.But the way gear now drops from PL,and the “bonus roll” mechanics made you see 2 peaces of gear in the raid witch you cant target at all.RNG,point of the thread.

m+ is really nice flashed out and awsome with the seasons.But what you fail to see it the rng of each box after the end of a dungeon is random,same story with the weekly chest.We dont need those thing,you cant target gear,and tf makes hunting for bis pointless,unrewarding.Again multiple layers of rng here.

I LOVE Island Expedition (there i said it) but they need to add to the vendors that you can buy all those mount/pets/toy that drop given what week it is.Stop with the rng of will it drop.
Warfronts are just garbage,also the rng on trying to get the gear is also rng.

Point is it is rng how you get to them,the residium mechanics is a safe lock behind a horrible grind.Point being Tier sets where a better system.And didnt hurt raiding,like azarite peaces are.

As i said in my first part,none is bashing on the content,but the rng system in place and on top of everything.Also the infinte grind.For ocd,collectors it just is awful.

In this era of bashing on big companies if you arent 30+ old bearded guy screeching about every game company except cd project red while having console boxes and cd boxes stacked behind you, nothing you say is worth reading. Either bash on Actibli$$ard, EA , Bethessa or Gtfo even though their games give you enjoyment.

No, they don’t. I tried some of them like Apex Legends from EA and HotS from Blizzard but I didn’t like them, I’ll admit that I did like playing Overwatch in the beginning though. Also, I’m trying to enjoy WoW because I did in the past, but now I can’t, with all the changes I really can’t. It’s not that I don’t like changes, I just don’t the ones they made. And I never played any games made by “cd project red”. I think they made the Witcher series, right? Some of my friends recommended it to me but I never tried it.

Do you know that not everyone uses their main on the forum, right? :thinking: it’s not being envy or not. Let’s think about mythic plus Rio score, at least for now at the beginning when everyone more or less have low score. Who would you pick? A 410ilvl with 500+ score with experience or a 435 boosted char with the same score who looted all titanforge items? How do you know? How to make distinction? You don’t. You choose the highest ilvl. That’s why I always swap my gear to the highest, to swap again when I get picked for the encounter. We live in this world, a world where the strongest but stupid get chosen instead of the real players. And no that guy might not be stupid at all, just damn lucky :blush: good for him.

Simply look at their history gear and what they have done guild etc takes less than 15 sec if i am suspicous and i do not look at item lvl btw what a nonsense.
