I agree they should just disable it for pvp and maybe they should just keep it at giving it a sort of small bonus to proffesions like some races have like dwarves who have a small advantage towards archeology or pandaren towards cooking I believe.
Instead of the advantage it could give towards combat.
Honestly I don’t even pick races based on racials, I just go for the one I like the look of the most. Although I must say being able to use body parts to open locks and what not is quite fun…
Remove racials, have an interchangeable perks system the player can choose for their character instead… similar to the Runes system in LoL, that they can change in their main hub.
void elf rift needs a rework, how about an actual rift tear telagrus starting zone instead of a wannabe blink i think we would all wish to forget existed.
I agree combat-oriented racials should be pulled. They are such an outdated concept, and Blizzard is clearly aware of such by attempting to reduce the impact of some of them over the years.
But still, players should never be put in a situation where they feel obliged to play a certain race they do not like, simply because it is “better” or offers a fight-winning skill that they otherwise would not have.
Non-combat conveniences with flavour would be far better.
The irony of this being posted by a Night Elf Priest is not lost on me.
There is nothing outdated about having meaingfull choices in rpg game. Specialy not when game isnt esport oriented. Maybe you souhld rather focus on improving your game becouse your mistakes in arena harm you far far far more then some racial skill. Specialy in current fast paced gameplay.
There’s nothing “meaningful” about the choice - just a right or a wrong one.
Blizzard has financially supported e-Sports tournaments within the game (both PvP and PvE), so your comment is factually incorrect. Of course, wouldn’t you be surprised to hear that the competitors within those have a tendency to play one or two races in particular - funny that eh.
Player-driven mistakes are, of course, more impactful, but you’re still walking into an Arena at an immediate, significant disadvantage if, for example, you are a Draenei and Lightforged pair but your opponents are both Night Elf.
It’s crazy people still defend the choices of a multi-billion dollar company that the company themselves do not even defend.
