The abovementioned quest is still bugged as of 5 February 2021. Clicking on the vulpin in Ardenweald (even when standing still) does not always result in the completion of that portion of the quest. When in Maldraxxus, after killing the mob, Renny is supposed to jump into your arms again to complete the quest. I have tried several of the suggestions on Wowhead, including stealthing to Renny and resetting the quest, but nothing seems to work.
I had the exact same issue and another player helped me resolve it.
After killing the mob and finding Renny unresponsive, I returned to Clarion Song, who had the yellow ? over her head. I clicked on this and ‘completed’ the quest, but still no Renny.
I then went to The Heart in Ardenweald and approached the Innkeeper. As i did so, Renny appeared and I completed the quest and got Renny.
