Is there a cap on how much renown can be gotten per week?

I’ve worked my backside off today on an alt to get to 35 renown and I still have no received 1 extra renowned after completing the entire questline, all dailies etc and any other source of easy renown.

Since hitting 34 renown I have completed 2x wings of LFR and 1x Mythic. Why am I not getting more renown?

I’ve been hard at this for 6 hours and quite frankly, it’s demoralising and taking the wind out of my sails to keep grinding.

What am I missing? Is the game broken? Is it poorly designed (Most likely)? or am I just unlucky? Getting to be a bit of a joke this game blizz. Not to mention the failings in the guild systems lately. Not what I expect from a game that’s £10 per month + Expansion costs and been around for many years.

There’s no cap, but it’s pretty RNG dependent and poorly designed.
If you’re trying to hit cap in 1 day you’re going to have a bad time. On my alts I personally do do BG’s, LFR and my daily calling and pray for renown along the way, but doing content jsut for renown is going to lead to a lot of disappointment.

Did you do your weeklies? Read somewhere if you do your weeklies the catch-up shuts off, dunno if it’s like that anymore though or if it ever was.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they designed it like that. Blizz are terrible for time gating things and quite frankly, it’s the biggest downfall of this game right now.

I think it’s capped so that it takes at least one reset to hit max. On my druid alt dinged 60 on monday and was renown capped on thursday, I think renown 34 was the cap back then.

There is no cap. You can get all 40 renown in one go if lucky. However you have to do the campaign to hit 40 as the catch up stops as soon as you would hit max if done the campaign.

After renown 28 the drop chance for renown upgrade is greatly reduced.

The only cap is that you need to do the campaign.

If you are not capped, you will earn Renown in the following ways:

  • By completing the weekly quests Replenish the Reservoir and Return Lost Souls. These quests will grant you one Renown each.
  • By completing the 9 chapters of your Covenant Campaign. Each completed chapter grants you one Renown.
  • Randomly through max level gameplay: dungeons, raids, PvP, and Callings (the new Emissary Quests). If you are far behind the cap, you can expect the chances to earn a Renown through these activities to be higher. This is thanks to catch-up systems in place to allow you to get up to speed.

There is no cap, however the closer you get to 40 the slower the gain is. I would recommend you clear any/all weekly quests and campaign story quests first, then branch off into extra activities to try to fish for more.
