This is particularly good if you are geared and switching covenant, once unlocked the first soulbind, go straight to Torghast and farm from lv1 to lv 22, then your renown should be capped.
Then, do your covenant quest until unlocking the second soulbind, than continue farming Torghast . I am 30 renown again 5 hours after switching covenant.
I personally stopped farming at 32lv, the remaining covenant quests should put at 44lv, then with world bosses, daily and weekly quests, you can get to 50lv, then some M+ should give you max renown again. At the time of the post, the cap is currently 57lv renown
As a shaman, I use ghost wolf to run directly to the floor boss and move to next level immediately. It takes me 6-8 mins per run and give me 1lv of renown every run.
If renown does not drop 2 time straight below 30lv, probably it is capped by main covenant quest progression.
yeah torghast is nice for renown. i had a 100% droprate from 9s until 30 something, then later came back for 12s in the 40s and had like a ~70% droprate or so.
So I went full circle on my rogue during SL. Swapped to Necro yesterday as it was the last one I was not a member of during SL. It took me 8ish hours to go 1-60.
Layer 5 till renown 20. Layer 9 till 42 (droprate seemed to be 70% after renown 36, so I had to do few more runs).
Finishing the campaign after the Boreghast session took me right to 60 (campaign gives 2 renowns as a catchup).
Bonus thing is that you get the followers from tower, if you are into the command table thing. Also, farmed like 7k soul ash, 1700 tower knowledge to level up the talent tree. Seems like very efficient method, if someone ponders on swapping.
Haha idd, but once I got the grip of the level layout in mind, I was doing 1 minute floors, that translates to 6-7 minute complete runs (given that last boss is a bit more time consuming when not having all the powers). Also, being a rogue helped tremendously, distract that elite to shadowstep the mawrat etc…
I think I will give this a spin later… I ran layer 1 a few times when I swapped covenant last night and was getting 1 renown per 4-5 minutes to clear it but probably won’t work now my renown is 16. Will try 5 until 20 and then 9s, fancy the soul ash for necro leggo craft anyway! Given I’ve done up to 4 of the campaign I think my cap will be about 50? Not really fussed at hitting max this week I mainly want most of Bonesmiths decent binds unlocked!
@infest did you mean you were skipping all bar final boss? Including portal guardians? I can imagine the final boss can be a war of attrition at times with this method? I’ve never tried to skip portal guardians I assumed you had to kill them?
Basically, you have to kill the mini-bosses, these are required to slay to ascend up the tower. That means, most of my runs I did I had the starting anima power, and then 3 more from the layers up. With some upgrades in the tower talents thingie, killing just these bosses will fill your empowered bar right before the final floor. If you fill it up earlier (messy elite pull etc.), it is wise to keep it for the final guy.
I mean I suppose throwing yourself repeatedly at the final boss isn’t an issue as it doesn’t affect the ash or renown in the end.
If indeed it can take me to 50 renown doing layer 9 this way, that’s about 9 renown an hour, so about 4 hours, which isn’t terrible I guess….I could have it done tonight and then focus campaign after weeklies tomorrow.
A bonus will it will net me the ash to craft Bone spike leggo tomorrow to rank 6 after running my 12s, as I had planned to upgrade Celerity but changed covenant last night on a whim.
It is actually RIDICULOUS how much stronger than Sepsis SBS is. I thought people were overegging the pudding but it really is a huge difference as outlaw. And Bonesmiths binds seems pretty crazy!
I suppose it’s easy to sit there and go “it can’t be that big a deal!” When one hasn’t tried, but in a cleave situation already even without my preferred bind and poxy 16 renown my cleave dps has jumped up by a fair amount from being Fae. Like what.
You get reduced amount of ash after your first run. Think it was 900ish for the first run, then it dropped only 150ish with every consecutive run. Still, I almost got enough for a 262 piece.
Indeed. I’ve followed your tips and in a session brought my renown from 16 to 30 in about 2 hours and earned 2.2k soul ash, so after my 12s next week will be able to craft a new 262!
I thought skipping to boss at 9 would be harder! This week with the speed blessing certainly speeds it up! Averaged 6 minutes a run.
