Hi All, my Cataclysm keyfob authenticator is almost dead and I wanted to know A) how to remove it and B) what do I need to use nowadays instead of it.
Conflicting information online and I want to ensure that if I remove it, I then don’t have to send my first born to Blizzard to prove I am who I am to add a new one on etc.
Thanks in advance.

You should be able to detach your old authenticator in your settings
https://account.battle.net/security#authenticator
Then it’s a case of getting set up on the phone app.
What you need
- Your smartphone (iOS or Android)
- Mobile data or Wi-Fi
- Access to your email
- Your Battle.net account email and password
How to
- If you haven’t yet, download the app to your phone
- Launch the Authenticator app on your phone and follow the prompts
- When asked, log in with your Battle.net account
- You will be asked to enter a security code sent to your email or your phone
- If you are currently online, you will be kicked from the Battle.net app and the game
- Enter your phone number
- You will be asked to enter a security code sent to your phone
- Wait for the set up to complete
- Take note of your Authenticator Serial Number and Restore Code
- You will need this information to restore your Authenticator if you reinstall the app, for example, when you reset or change your phone
Done, what’s next?
Congratulations, your Battle.net account is now secured!
The next time your Battle.net account tries to log in, it will request approval from your Authenticator. You will receive the approval request on your phone. You can approve or deny a log in with a simple tap.
After this, you will be asked to approve a login attempt only when you log in from a new device or location for the first time. If you want, you can choose to require an Authenticator approval for every single login attempt —this option is available in your Security options.
