Report chat function has to be removed

Why do we need to have it? It is a useless thing to have, it doesnt help anyone and it is easily manipulated by toxic people by mass reporting innocent players.

Its advantages: None

Its disadvantages:

*Players receiving warnings out of nowhere.

*Players getting wrongly banned.

*You cant give proper feedback.

*You cant instruct people to do XY.

*Promoting a fear based society.

*Waste of Blizzard resources.

*False reporting.

*Less socializing.

It is time to bring up this subject about this wicked system that has banned lots of innocent people. Most of my friends and people I know has had it happen to them, they have appealed and successfully overturned their ban. This informs us Blizzards report chat system is not perfect and is making mistakes on a daily basis.

It is wasting Blizzards resources that could instead be invested in fixing bugs or balancing the game.

I also want to address a thing about mass/false reporting in PvP and PvE. If a player doesnt agree how the game is played in /instance and explains his/her opinion, the player gets mass reported by their team and thus receive a warning. Even though nothing might happen since he/she didnt broke any rules, it still installs a great fear into their mind that some ban might be incoming. This is not good for the game, allowing toxic people to control the report system?

Another thing is you can not tell someone what to do, because they can feel offended. It does not matter how nice and professional you say it, they will snap at you and threaten to report you. I think ā€˜reported’ is the most popular word written in the game from what I have observed.

I also want to talk about how it has made the game less socializable, many people dont even write in the chat anymore because of the primitive report system.

Do we really want to play our game this way? Lets hope not. We can all agree to have report chat function removed!

The report function is fine although it could do with some changes, the punishing for abuse of it is what is needed.

A perfect report system does not currently exist.
Of course there will be people who will exploit it, but if the accusations are wrong all can be overturned.
Just try not to stir needless arguments is all I can say.

That’s so true. At some moment chats were died almost completely. No conversation, no jokes, no good old trolling. Everybody just suppressed by fear. Game lost a part of it soul.

Most people who get reported get reported for legitimate reasons, if its effecting you then re-evaluate how you treat others.

Say it is removed and people cant be reported now, how would blizzard be notified of vulgar and abusive communication happening in the game?

Its true it makes it harder atleast for me to say anything in shuffle or solobg when I see people weekly threatening to report each other after one of them have first started pushing others buttons till it became an argument. Makes it less social and less of mmo yes and people use the system to ā€œget backā€ at somebody. I almost daily see somebody start to annoy someone by taunting him and then if it escalates to an argument it becomes to that they declare to have reported each other. :+1:

If you don’t like some player – just mute him. And that’s all. That should be the only option.

The system can be abused to a point that common sense disappears from it, so I try to speak as little in pvp which is counterproductive for mmo in mind.

I disagree.
There are types of communication that have no place in wow and those who use them should have action taken against them.

Just ignoring is not a suitable alternative.

And that’s where the big issue lies imo.
Because THAT part of the whole process is very flawed.

If they build up as I understood of it. Lets say you have said ā€œno cds usedā€ to express amazement and then you have been reported dozen times for saying ā€œgo class xā€ now the target call is not anything but it can still be reported and the ā€œno cds usedā€ could be interpret as flaming so then that would be the one that gets you depending the one who views it. Its risk we just take if we play alot with random players in pvp that anything we say can be reported.

Ridiculous thread. If you got canned there’s probably a valid reason for it.

That seems a bit paranoid to me.
Ive never been reported for talking in the game, and i can be quite the chatter at times.

Even if you did somehow get reported for that, i dont believe any action would get taken against you. Other than the systems automatic silence that is. Which is annoying im sure, but a necessary feature.

Its based on that i know people to have received warning and they have made ticket asking what is it about cause they dont know why theyre receiving it, and their ticket is answered that its an automated warning when you have received certain amount reports and that the ticket viewer cant see what they are untill you go over some threshold and they get sent I assume. If play with alot random people in pvp daily you meet thousands of ppl, they can be unhappy for losing a round for example and report out of spite. In vanil I saw people abusing the system by kicking enemy teams healers out by making false reports his name, there was automation even back then

You are probably the serial chat report abuser.

I only ever report people advertising boosts in trade chat, rarely even ignore people unless absolutely necessary.

Oh is that why i keep getting warnings randomly when i log in, i guess this is what you get when you use AI and trust players to much, reminds me of that one time my twitter got banned and took 3 appeals to hear that they wrongfully banned me, and their systems had failed, only to remove my suspensions and then flag my account again.

I hate that crap so much, its like they cannot afford to hire real humans anymore.

Im pretty sure the only thing that can automatically happen is that it makes it so you cannot talk in chat for a while.

No real account action would be taken without the reports being reviewed by blizzard staff.

Sadly, it’s the way blizz designed it.
That’s what happens when you cheap out on GMs and rely on simple algorithms to fix the problems instead
