Why does it need an overhaul? It works exactly as advertised and intended, and as you were warned?

You logged into the game some time in the past year and clicked a big ‘accept’ button on a social contract on the character select screen and in that big social contract that you clicked the big ‘accept’ button on was a promise by you to not be mean to people in the game and if you were to be mean to people in the game, you would be muted and/or banned for it.

You then were mean to people and were muted and/or banned for it.

So… what does the overhaul entail exactly? A reminder every 5 minutes for the people mentally stuck in 2009 Xbox Live CoD lobbies?

calling someone out on their poor gameplay in a TEAM based event and getting banned is a lot different than calling someone names

If you’re calling someone the ‘b word’ as you say in your post, which I assume is ‘bad’ - i’d be willing to bet your mum’s house that you did a lot more than just call them ‘bad.’

But thats besides the point. The reason you were banned isn’t because you insulted one guy, one time. The reason you were banned is because you farmed reports on yourself by consistently insulting people likely every game over a period of a few weeks.

If Blizzard handed out bans because one guy insulted one other guy one time, I’d have been banned a few dozen times by now - yet I haven’t even been given a chat warning in over a decade of play, because I don’t fire from the hip every single game.

Calm down. Its a game. If you’re pausing many games in a row to rant at people and insult them, thats probably a result of personal problems in your own life. Drink some water, eat less salt, change your clothes, exercise more, wash yourself, let the sun hit your face once a day, etc.

Doesnt matter you can get banned the same for saying either.
You are treated the same way a griefer, booster, gold-cash trader, exploiter would be treated if they actually cared to ban these people in the first place.

The punishments for minor breaches are too harsh and can cost you your account, especially because they never diminish in severiy- if you account is flagged enough times, you’re out for good since it can be perma-ban.

It gets really contraversial when you think deeply about this too because they cash out on this since you can just pay blizzard the price for a new expansion and a new subscription for them to open you a “WoW2” account inside of your perma banned account and you get to keep your transmogs, achievements, collections, titles and knowing the playerbase … everyone would pay that gladly than lose their progress.
Im not saying its negative to have this option but at the same time you can get banned for minor breaches into a perma ban.

A good solution would be if Blizzard would make a seperation between minor language breaches and massive ones and punish accordingly.
Issue is we all know bans are automated and AI scanned.
Soooo solution 2:
Make it so severity diminishes over time.
Example: you had minor misbehaviour and your penalty escalated from a month ban per breach to 6 months ban per breach.
Okay but then you were a good boy for 6 months so if you quack up now instead of getting perma banned you get just a single month ban, because you were good for 6 months and penalty severity cleared up.
This would also solve the issue with people paying to move their toons out of fear of losing them.
And would make Blizzard look like they’re not onto another cash-grab scenario.
But what do I know.

this tells already enough that the ban is justified

I completely agree that the reporting system should be repaired and of course reformed!
This issue is not only about Battlegrounds. As long as the player reporting system and the actions of the accounts of those who are wrongly or rightly done by real players or mass reports is completely automated, we will see wrong and unfair bans .

how ever , You can easily today with Disagree this issue because this has not happened to you and you have not lost your favorite account and character.

Of course, it is reasonable to do this because in this game, no one cares about the other. From players to game developers and support team

Automated systems never work.
Blizzard needs to hire people (ha good joke)

The only thing that is justified to be banned for saying something in the chat is chat itself.
They should better concentrate on banning tons of bots and gold sellers.

I feel like people are not even offended by what you say to them as much nas they want to satisfy their little masochist brains via weaponizing something that is meant to be used as a shield.
So fundamentally we got something that diviates from its purpose and brings not order but another form of agression if you will
