Could we please get a clearification on what pvp gear we can expect to purchase during the prepatch of WotLK Classic?
So far ive seen youtubers claim that its brutal for 50% arena points, and Vengeful for honor. Others claim Vengeful is gone, and it stopped with Merciless, and according to some archives, Brutal gear for Honor was first introduced in 3.2.
It seems like a really confusing aspect, unless it is kept consistent with prior tbc seasons, meaning brutal 50% arena points, and Vengeful replaces Merciless for Honor.
I have some vague memory about it.
Season 1 will be obtainable again from honor.
And season 2 and 3 is unobtainable for a time.
Brutal is obtainable for arena points
I could be wrong, I believe i quitted in season 2 back then. came back at wotlk prepatch, and wanted to complete the set, and i couldnt
As dumb as it sounds, save your honor. basic PVE gear is better for levelling, but 75k honor will be better banked for S1 WOTLK
In the week between season end and titles, every season so far, we’ve seen 50% MINIMUM reduction on arena point costs, and all rating requirements removed. 3 Weeks of 5v5 at 1300ish will get you 4-5k arena points and you can spend those on the 5-set or a weapon.
The thing is, the honor rate and current cap, only let us buy max 3 pieces at 80, so it wouldnt really add to much, and the first weapon that would potentially replace a vengeful weapon is lvl 75 in Grizzly hills.
As for some classes, the setbonus and resi is great for the new Beta Meta of 4 man dungeon groups, so that s some of the thinking, as to playing more fresh characters and dks. Having some base gear will enable the 4 man runs etc, and the spellpower/strength ive been testing on beta really scales well with the vengeful lvl of gear.
Well based on the database research I did, I found brutral for honor at 3.2 as the earliest, meaning I would assume it is not considered an expansion feature. I do remember getting 1-4 in netherstorm at one point, but the prepatch is really confusing me, as also Beta has bugged PvP vendors and still has rating requirment for 70 gear.
Im pretty certain there were no reset, as the honor gain was increased substantially in WotLK, and the amount prefarmed was only enough to buy a few pieces with the cap.
I find the lack of planning and last minute decisions to be extremely hard to work around. Just the fact that people want to take time off for launch etc. But then again, which rules do prepatch abide by, thats the issue. if it is 3.3.5 we would see brutal gear for honor, and if its consistent with classic vengeful. Alltough right now I fear we stop at merciless and get no change.
Today I will get 19k honor and will buy 2hander and will not regret this decision. You know why? Because I’m playing damn game and that weapon will be big upgrade for me when it comes to hitting mobs over their head.
It will probably be replaced in 2 months time when leveling in wrath. But that’s 2 months of easier head smashing. It’s only worth saving if you already have decent gear, if you just dinged lv70 grab it and enjoy.
You probably WILL regret it. Because the honor 2-hander is trash, and 2 weeks of arena will get you the season 3 weapon. that 19k honor is like 2, almost 3 honor peices from season 3.
It will be replaced at lvl 75 by the ring of blood, but thats beside the point kinda, i got 100 of all marks tomorrow, and wanted to continue pvping furing prepatch. So i thought why not get some stuff right?
On the alt Ive been pvping, ive basicly got 100 of all marks as of tomorrow, and 60k honor, and I honestly enjoyed it, and would like to play some in prepatch too. So meanwhile im capping the third character, until I know more
I would also add, that if we look at prices from original Wotlk, Savage pvp gear of blue quality did cost 60k honor for the chest. As an example. The amount of honor gain was also closer to 6times more than today, not counting wintergrasp. So if I were to spend 60k honor to have a smoother 70-73, i honestly would consider it. Especially if the alternate is rare quality vs brutal gear, on fresh toons.
I also would like to point out that average 70-80 is about 40 hours of questing, 32 hours ish if 4 man dung spam, and my personal best is 20 hours on a firemage livingbomb grinding UK. And I know adding the brutal weapon would shorten that run by maybe 20 min total
I’m not regretting it. Got it yesterday and it made smashing heads so much easier and that’s the point of big upgrade.
I barely have enough time a day to make dailies, haven’t manage to run a single lv70 dungeon apart guild kara run and just did few BG’s here and there for honor so for me getting arena weapon in 3 or so weeks instead of grabbing 19k one that I’ve got honor mostly through dailies is big upgrade.
