Kuff; LFM SM Cath last spot dps, xxx reserverd.
Raff in whisper; yes can dps. gets invited. Party goes to SM.
Raff; Can I have leader for readychecks ? Raff gets leader.
They come to a certain bossfight. Just seconds before boss is dead Raff activalets Master Looter. XXX drops and Raff gives himself that loot.
Kuff; WTF ?
Raff; WTF what ?
Kuff: u ninja ? I reserved that item !!!
Raff; i dont ninja, it was reserved !
Kuff; huh ?
Raff; …
Kuff; u ninja’ed !
Raff; if it was reserved it isnt ninja’ing, agree ?
Kuff; it was reserved to ME.
Raff: noone said that, if it was so it would be natural to specify just that, since you were the one who wrote it.
Does Raff have a point here ?
Even though we know Blizz will never say anything about it, what do you think Blizzard would say about reserving if they were to say something ?
I was under impression that you need to change loot system before boss is engaged. If you change loot system in the middle of the fight, the previous rules will be active for current loot. Am I wrong?
Anyway it’s all about player relationships and I hope that Blizzard will not engage in any way to those matters.
Yes. The problem is as follows:
- The original raid leader said an item is reserved. Not to whom. All other items are unclear.
- Then, the OG RL passed down the raid leader to a rando. This is the fault of the OG RL.
- New RL assigns ML. This is common, what is also common is that it is (mistaken abused) for ninjaing. What Blizzard thinks is: The Master Looter is the boss of the loot unless very clear loot rules is made (see Blizz quote below).
- Then New RL with ML assigns himself the loot. No potential scam may have occured.
If you’re concerned you can still make a ticket about it. If a scam can be verified, then all loot will remain undistributed and/or destroyed.
I’m not sure if Raid Assist can be given instead of Raid Leader in Classic but that would’ve been a viable alternative for the future.
But Blizzard does have something to say about it:
In WoW Classic and Wrath Classic there are multiple loot methods that allow you to manage loot directly. For this reason, Customer support will not redistribute loot in the event of a dispute between players. Scamming other players is a violation of our World of Warcraft game policies. We will investigate any reports of scamming that we receive and take the appropriate action, removing gains and penalizing those who violate this policy as needed. Items and gold will not be redistributed in these cases.
If you’re playing with a new group, it’s advised to always be clear on the loot rules before proceeding. Discuss the plans for distributing loot with the raid leader before you become locked into a raid. This will provide you with an opportunity to make an informed decision on whether you want to decline the invitation or leave the group.
We encourage you to group with others you trust, especially when using Master Loot. Ninja looting does have consequences in the community and those who do it will have trouble getting invited to group. Remember to play nice and play fair, especially when using Master Loot.
Is nothing in there about reserving.
The following emphasis from the Blizzard quote is mines:
This includes reserving, the method on distributing loot etc etc.
Kuff is such a sweet person, reserving an item for a stranger before even having talked to them. And Raff has the sharpest of minds, drawing the only logical conclusion that since it’s 0.1% unclear for whom the item was reserved, Raff should just take it for themselves without even trying to straighten it out.
I’d break my s key if I expressed myself fully so just have the /.
Sounds like cope. Everyone, as we can see even Raff in this example, knows what “reserved” means. Raff was told it was reserved even before he joined, so he was aware the item was meant for someone else. Its a weak attempt to twist words. Raff is definitely being a ninja, but some fault is still with the group leader, who reserved the item, for not making sure something like this does not happen.
I guess special loot rules are not supported by Blizzard and are not reportable if abused.
Apparantly Raff saw my post and reported it… good thing everyone on the forum already saw it and he still knows what I think of him…
Raff is being a cnt and wants to ride this on a technicality.
you cnt say that here bro!
Is it just as litte legal to reserve things in wow as it is reserving a seat on the bus before entering, or say to another man who enters the pub at the same time; “that girl is reserved (for flirting)” ???
Imo, yes it absolutely is.
Joining a run where they inform you someone reserved an item and then ninjaing it is a different story though, for me at least
I wouldn’t join a group unless it was Need/Greed - reserving loot is lame
