Today’s changes are actually insulting. Weeks and weeks of silence and we get a few measly tweaks to a smattering of abilities in the latest build? We’re three months off of release for crying out loud, and the quality of our talent trees is far behind every other class.
Do you actually have anyone working on Rogues at this point or what?
I think the Class Tree still has some major issues with the End Talents. I just can’t see why you’d go for Thistle Tea or Echoing Reprimand instead of Shadow Dance. The utility and flexibility Dance gives far outweighs the benefits the others could offer. With Thistle Tea specifically, it’s hard to see it being used well, without perfect play, and it’s only a fraction of a fraction of Players that are capable of that kind of displays of skill. For the regular Player, Thistle Tea just won’t ever work out.
Thistle tea is just very bland. But its common feedback so I’m just not that fussed to keep echoing it. And ER can be a compelling choice now esp since the “legendary” effect was just changed to cost only 1 point.
I just hope they will think again about the Rogues. And I hope these changes are not final, while the Rogues (especially Assassination) are in need of buffs, they nerf the Rogues even more. And buff the classes like Hunter etc. like they weren’t strong enough already. I read the Rogue section of upcoming changes and I was like “That must be a terrible, terrible joke…”
Even if they nerf Hunter right now it’s not really fair. I don’t remember that Hunters ever been nerfed in the entire history of WoW, and of course, I’m talking about nerfs that significantly affects performance of the class, not a small/utility nerf like the Binding Shot nerf…
However, if someone can explain (with a source) that if Hunters were significantly nerfed in the past, I would like to know about that.
Legion .1 patch, sidewinder build got major nerfed and its alternative build was terrible, didnt get fixed til .2 patch when they moved to BM when they reworked that legendary.
However im pretty certain hunter hasnt been down for long ever.
I hear what you are saying, but hunters often had less buffs than other classes, which is why there were less nerfs. I think the developer in charge has a better idea on how to balance hunters than rogues, hence occasional over the board damage buffs or nerfs for rogues.
“but hunters often had less buffs than other classes”, when I say this is that when they revamp speccs or add new mechanics or borrowed power in expacs, then hunters have often gotten more of a balanced power pump than some other classes.
However, the last subtlety nerf just seems lazy as hell… sad actually. 17% dmg nerf and no other info lol.
I was worried about Assassination only, which is my main spec. I was hoping for finally some buffs for Assassination Rogue and when I read about the further nerfs for Assassination Rogue, I was like “What’s this, seriously…?” Assassination Rogue is in need of buffs, and they nerf it further in every patch/expansion or no tunings most of time. Then I scrolled down and I saw Outlaw and Subtlety was mega nerfed as well. In that upcoming changes thread: The only “buff” they give to Assassination is a “buff” to the Rupture damage.
Like what’s the point of buffing the Rupture when overall damage is nerfed to ground by a large margin. If anything, that overall damage nerf will have a big downside, so that it’s a major nerf. So “buffing” the Rupture damage in exchange of overall damage nerf is a terrible joke at this point. However, I still hope that they somehow, somehow re-consider this, otherwise Assassination and Rogue as a whole will not be fun to play in slightest.
I haven´t played the alpha or beta, but it could be that the abilities were way too overtuned or scaled too well with first season gear. For that reason I could see why flat damage nerfs would be approriate… however, from reading the post it seems like an awful lot.
Alternatively, they have found that some talent combinations are way to OP and as an effect produce much more damage than intended and as an consequently damaging abilities are reduced rather than changing the talent trees further.
