Resto Druid in torghast - what spec?

I main a resto druid. I am wondering what the best spec is for me to use in Torghast. Can anyone help?

I have tried Guardian spec but dont have the DPS for the end of Level 3 boss. I can outlast it but then the “enrage” time kicks in and I cant DPS it down in time.

So, should I be using Guardian spec for Torghast? Since all my gear (weapon especially) has INT primary stat, perhaps I should run it as balance?

Some advice from a resto druid that can easily clear Torghast 3 would be much appreciated. What spec, what affinity and what anima powers are best.

Thank you!!!

I’m clearing it as… drumroll… resto. The only problematic things are the mobs that cast stuff I’d rather interrupt - because I only have Maim with feral affinity (not going to play balance aff if I can help it, hate it, and Typhoon has a similar CD anyway). Everything else, I can outheal and burst down with Convoke.

I usually try to stack anima powers that make HoTs and DoTs tick faster, proc barkskin on heal, and give barkskin thorns, and increase its duration. With that setup, mobs basically kill themselves on me. All I need to do is keep HoTs and DoTs up, and we’re good. If I have to heal myself, I’ll just sunfire & moonfire. If I’m nowhere near in danger, I’ll go kitty and rip & rake whatever I can aswell. Oh, and if you get any convoke improvements, such as CD reduction or damage increase, those are amazing. If you have trouble staying alive, the anima power that makes you immune during soulshape is also great. If you’re running balance affinity, then entangling roots improvements (it dealing damage, and withstanding more damage) is likely useful aswell.

There’s quite a few strategies that can all work.

Thanks @Ancelyn! So what’s the primary rotation when you play as resto, outside of cooldowns? Root and then DPS with moonfire, sunfire and wrath?

Since I play with feral affinity, no roots, didn’t need it so far.

For packs without elite mobs, I just go kitty and rip & rake the biggest one, swipe the rest. I pop out to refresh hots if need be.

For packs with an elite, pretty much the same, but I’m ready to pop barkskin and swiftmend, along with swiftness + regrowth. If I need to kite, I’ll drop a vortex and dash away, heal up, and sunfire + moonfire.

For packs where I have to heal myself too much to go kitty, I heal myself and keep sunfire & moonfire up. I usually play with Heart of the Wild, so don’t have mass root, and rooting a single mob is pointless.

Tell you what, I’ll record a run, and link a video. That’ll be the easiest, I suppose.

There we go. A chill run through Fracture Chambers Layer 3 as resto druid. Mistakes were made, my play is quite bad many times, but I wanted to show a chill run, not a focused speedrun - that wouldn’t be very useful.

Amazing. Just who are you?? You even posted a video to show how you did things! Let me tell ya, I watched every minute of that.

OK, going to Torghast now to try out that very same setup.

Cheers Ancelyn. You are a star.

Moonkin is great fun in Torghast. Loads of Typhoon roots, you name it. All abilities get a go, and it feels great <3

On that point Monsterbaby (great name BTW), whats your basic spell rotation in Torghast?

As a resto you need to kite! Before big fights I start with healing myself. After that I swap to cat form, bleed all mobs up, use moonfire, sunfire, repeat healing if needed or go catform and use rake + bite. Unkillable and because the bleeds + dots the mobs will die.

Only problem I have is lack of stuns. I specced the bear stun in the talent tree.

Uh, no? I hardly ever kite. I HoT up, and go kitty, pop Barkskin if need be, and all’s well.

This may sound really stupid. But all the spells. Without the baseline of Typhoon, Ursols Vortex and Entangling roots, there are some places I would be unable to do.

Otherwise, it’s regular Moonkin stuff, following my eclipse. Using Wild Charge when I can, to keep distance to the mobs, pushing them with typhoon and keeping them in Ursols Vortex.

It’s a lot more, than just dps. If things get hairy I do Heart of the Wild, Regrowth and Swiftmend. So far I haven’t had the big issue. Most of the time if I die, is because I fall off a ledge somewhere, overestimating my Wild Charge.

(Also use your Typhoon to interrupt as well, as Solar Beam is on a high cooldown)

All the druid utility stuff. The last thing you want to do, is tank+spank as moonkin and take the punches, as in the late stages you’re made of paper.
