Hi all, I’ve been playing some resto recently and struggling to track my HoTs on targets. I’m just wondering, what raid frames do people use? I’m interested in healing 5 man and small raids.
It’s always to get a balance, between big enough that you can see it properly, to small enough it’s not obstructing the view of the game, to enough info to make good decisions, to not too much info so it becomes cluttered. I haven’t quite found the sweet spot yet.
Also does everyone use mouseover macros? Or is there a better way?
I use elvui frames but vuhdo and grid2 are also good options.
Make sure if you want to stick with base ones, that you get the addon to show more buffs since 3 is not enough for resto
I use clique and click to heal ex. Left mouse rejuv, right mouse regrowth middle lifebloom and have ctrl, shift and alt modifiers to play with.
Some prefer mouseovers and both are good as long as you are not clicking to target someone either is good.
ElvUI with mouseover macros,
The raid frames are very similar to Grid, hots are tracked with a dot in each corner. Very easy to keep track of who has what.
I find mouseover macros counterproductive as I can target 2 people without them: target selected if they’d take more sudden damage so you don’t have to mouse back over them and in the meanwhile you can already mouse over another target and when your gcd allows you to cast again, click them and cast a spell with at most 0.1s delay. As for raid frames I still use standard blizzard ones but I’ve been doing some testing with grid2 and it’s pretty good in the way you can customize your hot displays and other important buffs/debuffs.
Edit: I find mouseover macros have their use for me when I’m in a dps spec and want to quickly heal the tank for example without having to swap targets + it makes the difference when your tank suddenly dips to 10% and a quick lay on hands prevents sudden death. Maybe it’s just druid healing but I don’t prefer mouseover macros while healing with mostly hots
