Resto Shaman legendary items review

Not many people consider Deeply Rooted Elements legendary good because it’s pure RNG. If it procs in the right moment then it’s great but if it procs in the least desired moment it feels like playing without legendary. What if instead of proc chance it gave Ascendance after certain amount of spell uses. For example. For Ele after certain amount of Lavabursts, for Enha after certain amount of Stormstrikes and for R Shaman after certain amount of Riptides. In raiding, M+ and PvP rather prefer to plan their damage and play around certain windows rather than gambling. This build worked in Legion but a lot of things like talents changed so it’s not necessarily working right now.

Resto Shaman already suffers due to lack of interesting choices. In PvE you either play with covenant legendary items or Primal Tide Core. In PvP you either play with Dwayne, Earthen Harmony or in very rare cases Sephuz. Deeply Rooted Elements could be an alternative if changed. Other idea is to rework Jonat’s Nature Focus. Instead of making Healing Wave and Healing Surge increase healing of Chain Heal why can’t it be Riptide. This way it would synergize with incoming set bonus and actually fit into gameplay of R Shaman.

Last one I’d like to mention is Spiritwalker’s Tidal Totem that doesn’t make any sense since Shaman is already one of the best healers mana wise and doesn’t need mana cost reduction. If this legendary instead increased healing of Chain Heal and Healing Wave it would be actually a good option. The concept of lowering mana cost of spells during mana regenerating CD for only 10 sec. is kinda pointless.

When was the last time a suggestion written here was actually implemented? I mean, I admire your faith despite Blizzard giving you every reason to abandon all hope, but I wonder if you’ve given any thought as to what use this actually serves? I only write stuff these days to try and change the way players think, I’ve already given up hope on Blizzard.

Oh, and if you do find a real example, then how long did it take to implement the suggestion?

Last time suggestion was implemented was today when Blizzard read feedback about Frost Mage.

What was the suggestion? Complaint =/= suggestion btw.

Ok, to explain it further, there is the way how they react to complaints and do what they themselves thought up. That’s not really paying attention to any one individual, but rather to the amount of people complaining about it as a whole while ignoring individual feedback.
The other way is that they read individual ideas and bring them into the game, like you wrote in your OP. You brought up your own ideas for how to change it. When was the last time they followed a suggestion here in the arena forum? And how long did it take them to implement it?

Because in your OP you clearly put some effort into thinking of ways to fix it. In other words, yours wasn’t a copypasta “NURF DAT NAO!” but rather an actual suggestion for how to change stuff.

More often than not, from what I can remember, they tend to follow the complaints. I rarely see them follow suggestions, and most of the time those suggestions come from youtube or the general forum. I almost never see 'em follow suggestions mentioned in the PvP side of the forum, so the chance to even get noticed seems pretty darn slim when you go through the trouble to write suggestions. One-liner complaints seems to get noticed a lot more often.

I mean all the enh shaman changes were suggestion from the forums (lava lash spreading shock), the resto tier set was also reworked after feedback was given.

It is not THAT bad anymore.

Tbh, a mechanic like Jonat’s should just be baseline. I fear the day when Shadowlands borrowed power disappears, especially the upcoming loosing of Swirling currents. That conduit is basically the sole reason for big healing riptides. They have to think about a strong and baseline interaction between our hard casted heals besides just the old tidal waves mechanic.

Not in keys, no. In keys, you play Vesper, Chain Harvest or Rocky. Come double legendaries, you’ll be able to play Vesper + Rocky / EE or Chain Harvest + Rocky / EE / Skybreaker.

In keys, shamans pretty much all play offensive legendaries, because our healing output is fine, and 9.2 will just make this an even more desirable thing, because tanks are getting even tankier. This is the reason the resto shaman tier set is so lackluster in keys, too: it doesn’t provide much for damage.

From my PTR testing, Kyrian with both Rocky and EE felt nice. Rocky had more potential damage, but was harder to plan and play. EE felt a bit weaker, but considerably easier - and more fun - to play along Vesper. Venthyr with Chain Harvest + Skybreaker was very, very nice, too. So much cooldown reduction on chain harvest! The improved chain harvest legendary is very nice, I like it, and it plays well with Skybreaker.

This is already 3-4 interesting choices for keys, for two different covenants. I’m happy with that. It means I’ll be able to go Vesper + Rocky for Tyrannical weeks, Vesper + EE for fortified weeks, and Harvest + Skybreaker for Venthyr dungeons if we need a venthyr, or for any key where I need more healing and less damage. I can mix and match, depending on key, affixes, group composition!

I know but I pretty much mentioned output legendary items (raids) as Shaman doesn’t have any good choices here.

Regarding keys it’s hilarious that healers meta is based on “who can deal the most damage as a healer”. With H Pala nerfs R Shaman is the most desired one no doubt.
