Restoring a character if you're already using the name

Hey,

This is a recurring issue and I’m coming up on being able to restore a character, which I know will have the exact same problem. To avoid circumventing the paid name change, I assume, when you try to restore a character that was deleted within a certain time period (a month? more?), you’ll get hit with a “name is already in use”, if you’ve taken the name for another character and that’s it. Can’t restore it, won’t flag the name for a change, at least that’s what happens to me.

So for me to restore a character and keep my current characters with their names, I’d have to name change character A, restore character B, name change that, then name change character A again back to its original name for a total sum of €30 and a headache :stuck_out_tongue:

Now here’s the question; can you contact a GM and make this process easier? I’m more than willing to pay for a name change but not 3 name changes. How would you get around this limitation? do I really have to wait months to restore my character for the “proper” method?

There is another choice but it takes time.

  1. Delete character 1. Be careful, lower level characters may be permanently deleted.
  2. Wait either 30 or 60 days. I can’t remember which.
  3. Make character 2 on another blizzard (battle, net) account, not on the same one as character 1, and not another warcraft account within the same blizzard (battle, net) account as character 1, with the same name as character 1, it can be a trial account.
  4. Restore the character 1 and you will be able to give it new name for free.

I tested this and it works, or did about 6 months ago.
