Ret as a whole in mythic +

There is plenty that can be done in that regard. Idk, 10% healing buff for the party? Group wide lay on hands?
Anything that make us party valid is welcome.

Did Word of Glory AoE heal on 20 sec CD help Rets get spots in M+? It was fairly powerfull but dont think anyone ever brought a Ret for it.

I dont see giving Rets more heals or a buff to increase others healing as something viable. If its a 10% healing aura wouldnt that make it like the mage int buff. Having it makes it the normal healing while not having it makes healers weaker as everything then is balanced around having the aura?

If its a 10% (hell even 100%) more healing for 10-20 sec kind of buff… i just dont see ppl taking rets for it.

In the end the utility other DPS brings is usualy a form of group CC, stealth, sprint or dmg mitigation. And also usualy more then one of them.

Edit: Healers are there for healing… utility is making it easier for them to heal dmg heavy encounters so mitigation tools are far better then actual healing imo. Kinda weird that DKs gets the battle ress and group dmg mitigation. When you think of Death Knight you think group helper right?

It’s an example that fits the class. Could also be group wide cleanse, group wide shield etc etc.
Something good, but maybe not mandatory as an heroism (wrong on its own imho) and ret exclusive, not something that the whole paladin can tap to otherwise it will be cannibalized by holy and prot.

Problem 1: Fits the class, not the specc
Problem 2: Those examples wouldnt actually help ret even if they were ret unique as the old WoG example i gave earlier.

Problem 3: Dont actually fit ret and already given to DKs… Think Prot has/had a talent to make a sheild players could stand behind to avoid stuff (a barrier mobs used a lot in MoP?) dont think ive ever seen it used by players tho.

As ive said new things goes to new classes. Cant be given more CCs for reasons. Party speed buff? Smoke bomb/flashbomb? Nah then you are tresspassing in others utility Zone

You know things that actually fit Rets? Ret aura! Kinda sad as thats the mindset devs has for ret palas. It was hated when it came in as a passive and even more so when turned into an aura for “flavour” but thats what auras always were, nothing more.

Auras are an perfect example as how Rets are seen by the rest. Never truly needed for any content in game.

It sucked it had 5min cooldown it worked for 6seconds and only on players behind you and only in a 10yard range.
Opps forgot to mention it was a 20% damage reduction.
It was on the same talent row as Judgment of light and consecrated grounds.
So you either lost a free healing on the raid with very high uptime or bigger consecration that also slowed for a 5min cooldown,

Think it was channeled aswell?
They added huge drawbacks to it while being rather niche in its use and competing against far more usefull talents.

I kinda liked the idea of it as it was unique but it was just so user unfriendly. Mages ice wall pvp talent as is would have been far better but even that wouldnt compete.

As i said new ideas for Ret utility will not come, the specc in their eyes is fairly much complete and will only get tweaks every now and then with a new expansion.

Making Repentance a baseline CC would go a long way, imagine if Imprison or Paralyse were a talent you had to pick.

This way you know that a Retribution Paladin can skip packs or otherwise out of combat CC something.

Further fixes could be to look into GCD problems that Retribution faces,

its the solo reason why I absolutely HATE and I mean HATE retribution. Protection Paladin does almost everything better than Retribution in regards to this.

Prot

  1. you have generators that are on GCD (obviously)
  2. your primary spendor, SOTR is off the GCD

Ret

  1. EVERYTHING ON THE GCD, thanks blizz.

that combined with that Ret uses 2h just makes it feel very unresponsive.

Oh btw, they could just give Retribution Aura Mastery as well.

Ye i do not get why repe is not baseline for all paladins, it is paladin signature spell basicaly. Also Aura of mastery should be available as a talent to ret paladin, so it has some Raid cd.

You can’t skip packs with repentance, people get into combat when they walk too close, unlike imprison. Paralysis also doesn’t work to skip packs.

Ah yeah true, but it does work with regards to other stuff. Similar to Frost Trap. Still would be very nice to have.

Rets lost the old repentance to monks the same way Locks lost demon form when DHs came into the picture. For new classes to come into the game talents from old seems be sacrificed to make room for diverse and seperate classes.

Only theirs had a far shorter CD and was non magical so couldnt be dispelled.

Funny how SL is the only expansion that didnt add new classes or races like every expansion has done since TBC.

Not that i think they should as im sure old classes would lose utility spells to them and again Rets for sure wouldnt get anything new.

Edit: They could atleast make turn evil instant cast for rets with a glyph to make the target not run around.

also, repentance works only on some mobs, it’s a long cast and it’s on the same row of blinding lights and fist of justice, which are way more usable and useful than it.
it’s pretty much a dead talent unless you really really need to stop a mob for a long period.

Will be usefull in mage tower ^^
