Ret: Instead of buffing Templar Herald is nerfed

  • Retribution
  • Herald of the Sun: Dawnlight damage reduced by 15%.

Damage nerf applies to both PVE and PVP.

Herald is barely middle of the pack, Templar is in narnia, people complain about lack of damage - yet instead of buffs we are getting nerfed.

It’s quite puzzling, do devs even play the game? Paladin is quite a popular class

The buffs about HoW Judgement and CS applys only to Holy or class?

they are listed under Holy, so yes

Only to holy.

I swear Blizzard are on a crusade to make ret paladin’s stop playing.

well i got a large break half legion and the only reason i started the game again was cause ret was decent in the end of Dragonflight. Guess its time to stop feeding this useless company that cant do a proper balance

A few days ago I gave this game an 8/10 because the levelling was fun, the zones are pretty and the music is decent. That score is now running closer to 2/10 having seen the dungeon list, and recent balance changes.

I was sold a product based upon expectations of performance at the time of purchase, and now the product is receiving wild blind updates with no consideration as to whether that performance is being delivered.

Since the QA team and customer services teams were slashed we’ve seen nothing but worse levels of service, and poor quality changes that seem to ignore the very feedback they claim to listen to.

Almost no one plays templar, and it is such a shame, the “flavour” looks very interesting on paper, but the damage is lacking, templar should be the burst playstyle of the retribution paladin, because retribution is lacking burst damage. On the other hand Herald of the Sun brings nothing interesting, the Dawnlight threads makes little sense in PVE and are completely ignored in PVP, Dawnlight could have just been an AOE debuff (instead of the thread mechanic) and it would have been the same effect. Blizzard is trying to make the class more action based but it makes no sense in a tab targeted game.
This could be fixed only if Blizzard will add changes that are different for PVP and PVE, most of the time they are too lazy to do that, it is simpler to nerf both PVE and PVP that to actually think what change would improve both PVP and PVE.

TL;DR Templar hero tree has a more interesting playstyle than Herald of the Sun, but it is so bad in terms of damage/defensives that nobody plays it.

They do this constantly? WoG heals for like 50% less in pvp, stun lasts 1 sec less, Bliding light lasts 2 sec less. Wings Might is nerfed 50%, Crusade 30% and the list goes on.

Edit: Just to add that Blessing of An’she in pvp increases the next HoW by 80% instead of 200%.

Plenty of seperate balancing going on for pve and pvp.

This, I really wanted to play templar, but it’s not viable, at least the class in general is fun.

Those examples are just some baseline stuff they thought of, when it comes to balancing post release they are always not doing a good job because they do not think it thoroughly. And they end up nerfing or buffing both PVE and PVP. I didn’t say that they don’t do it, I just said that they are usually too lazy to think it through. The talent tree builds and item stats variety (from crafting) is hitting them hard, who would’ve expected it, right?

Yes you did. Nothing in your post suggest otherwise.
If they are doing a good job of it is another subject.

I dont know why the class with the LEAST amount of CC gets both of them nerfed in pvp.
Same with the healing, we are hammered down to bellow or on par at best with warrior/rogue/DH/DK selfhealing while they have ALL the tools we lack like more CC, slows, roots, gapclosers, MS debuff.

Dont know why our healing comes at the cost of DMG, Holy power AND mana. Wild guess they nerfed this back in DF when they knew Delves were to become a thing. Only thing that makes sense for why they made this choise.

We are a class with no direction, class fantasy is totaly gone with the decision that we cant have anything new (those go to new upcomming classes).

Over the 10 expansions, what “Paladinish” talent have they given us?

Well at least we agreed on something  I would really not defend Blizzard management, they don’t deserve it.

i just tried it out in a m+5 and it was way better than the dawnlight build i had but what do you think ia bad about it in details?
