Ret is kinda.. way less fun without divine steed / long arm

So first of all I’m not begging that they add divine steed / Laotl im just simply stating my opinion.
If they don’t thats fine and I’ll just play a more interactive class instead. Being kited without solution is garbage. Melees need gap closers. Warrs can charge, rogues can sprint / vanish into shadowstrike, druid can skullbash / ss travelform, it’s just ret and enhancer that are hardstuck with their W key. Mobility buttons are fun and feel good to press. Holding down W while getting kited to no end does not feel good. It just feels slow and unengaging. Although they said they moved away from mobility runes (with their example being heroic leap and it not feeling “classic like” at that time) I’d like to have them reconsider that decision for enh and ret. Yes, ret can freedom himself and daze you for 8 secs with a 30s cd shield throw. guess what, warrior can charge in frost nova. So that really doesn’t hold up as an argument. Almost every class has a mobility / gap closer button. Just give the one’s that don’t have one yet a button too (except priest because they never had one in any iteration of the game ever)

PS: Divine Steed is one of the most iconic paladin abilities of all time (which they said they wanted to add) and a knight isn’t really a knight without his horse

Sorry but Ret is fine as it is. If more mobility is added then damage would need to be toned down…

A 30s cooldown, dispellable daze is not a gap closer nor is it mobility. I’m perfectly fine with hunters getting disengage and locks getting circle alongside paladins getting pony. A melee that has no gap closer isn’t fine in any way and is unlikely to ever see competitive warsong play. Also Paladin’s damage isn’t close to overtuned, it’s super mid, it just looks like its good because divine storm is cleaving on pets etc. It will immediatly stop looking good when warriors get whirlwind. Ret will be entirely inferior to war because it can not gap close, does less damage and has no Mortal Strike and will thus never see serious pvp play, just like it always was. Ret needs the pony.

But it’s more than what most classes have?

Paladin damage is no where near super mid, this is just textbook class bias.

Right now out of the trifecta of Mobility - Damage - Survivability, Paladins have both survivability and damage, why should they have all 3?

Sod is about more engaging class design and utility spells add exactly that. There is no reason to still have classes that have 0 mobility spells. This isn’t just about ret, it’s also about shaman and lock.

You’re talking about pvp so why do you mention pve logs?

Damage in pvp and pve are very different…

Rogues and mages dont have the survivability of a ret paladin, especially in the current game, which is what we are discussing yes? We must be because we only have information for current SOD.

Right now Paladins have high damage, high survivability and decent mobility in PVP so why would they get any more mobility without sacrificing anything?

As a druid/hunter, if a paladin catches up to me i’m gonna get popped. Your frontloaded dmg, potential immunity to all/roots+slows for 10s+, faster run speed… long range slow…

There are more runes in next phase so some gimped specs may be viable for leveling or 5m or even pvp

Every class is not supposed to be able to do everything and have an answer for everything for that go play retail.

Classic and sod must stay true to the classic experience. Classes here must work together, and everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses.

You know playing against rets is KINDAAAA … Idk about running around with lvl 80 kits at lvl 25, seems rpetty broken :^)

Go explain that to an average Paladin abuser as an actual Paladin main, rn these people have burst+utility+tankiness and they still want more.

Druids root, warriors hamtring, mages nova and hunters slow. In a group fight you should be able to catch up to targets.

If I see any melee chasing some ranged ppl, I always root the targets so they can catch up. This is how group pvp should work.

So if you can’t catch up on someone in a bg, then it’s your mates who such, not the paladin.

If you give pally such an op slow for 1v1, it’s gonna be waaaay too strong for bgs where you might have multiple paladins and multiple slows

I think instead of bringing a so called gap-closer (thats what the girls call me btw), they should expand on paladin fighting from semi distance by giving them spell reflect. True iconic paladin skill, fighting darkness by raising his/her shield.

More like u pretty bad at pvp :^)
