Ret pala should be able to dual wield

I mean why not?

The two other plate classes gets to do both, and Frost DKs will be able to choose between dual wield and 2h in Shadowlands.

Now paladin class is based on alot of stuff, templar knights among them, and those guys mastered alot of different weapon styles.

I dont see the logic why someone who can master a two handed sword/mace/axe cannot master two onehanded weapons.

Opinions?

(Ok, im writing this because i got Thunderfury the other day and i dont wanna main any of the specs capable of mogging them, even tho i have rogue, dh, dk, monk and warr at 120)

I’d defiantly disagree.

Blizzard balance one playstyle and leave the rest in the dirt. Ret has been a iconic 2handed class since the start.

1handed weapon animations in WoW suck, and we are lucky enough to get the better options of weapons.

Whats the problem in some new stuff? Everything doesnt have to stay like it is “Cause it was like that from the start” If i mentioned any other class getting to choose, per example uh dk or dh or arms, would you say the same?

If a frost dk can choose between the two, and a warrior can dualwield 2h weapons, i dont see how a ret cannot dual wield either.

But ret will be the last class to ever get anything new like that, community wanna keep the spec down and if they were to get anything new/cool there would be alot of complaining and hating.

Top damage in raid or atleast be on level with the top 2-3: “OMG lol kek ret is OP u suppozed to be bottom NERF RET”

Be bottom damage: "Lol noob l2p "

retlife.

Unholy the 2handed specc doesn’t get to choose dual wielding though :stuck_out_tongue:

Frost is getting to use 2handed because it was a playstyle the specc had from release.

It shouldn’t change because

  • It will make weapon drops more across the board needed making it harder to gear melee classes.

  • it would likely irritate other paladin mains if the outcome became dual wielding out dps’d 2handed option. As we’ve specifically picked a 2handed option.

2handed frost had its own playstyle entirely.

Dual wield Ret wouldn’t. It’s just a aesthetic. And to have a additional class rolling on 1handed loot. And personal loot having even more items to randomly generate through decreasing your chances of the other pieces of loot dropping.

It’s not a fair trade.

We are more likely to get junk from content if every weapon in the game can drop for us.

No but DK get to choose between two dps-specs, where one use 2h, the other dualwield, and the latter is now getting to do both.

Another weapon specialization for one spec = Adjusting and balancing the amount of drops ingame, the smallest problem.

“it would likely irriatate other paladin mains if” - So? A small problem compared to the possibility to a variation in styles, and a even smaller problem compared to people maining specs that got trashed in favour of other specs of the same class.

Sub rogue vs Assa/Outlaw (Rogues even got a whole reworked spec from Combat, allthough not everybody like it, reworking specs and new things CAN happen, just never to pala class)

MM Hunter vs BM and Survival

Affli lock vs Demo and Destro and the list goes on

Much bigger issues then one spec performing slightly better or worse because of dual wield vs 2h.

Its like i say, ret is the spec community love to hate, and it will be the last class to ever get anything new or “fancy” and if it should happen there will be so much hating to the point where it gets removed.

They take alot of stuff from other classes, locks and rogues, and give to dh. Imagine the cryes if ret were given something.

I wanna mog 2x thunderfuries on my ret now.

Having both options on a class

Makes it harder to gear. You will end up getting the wrong weapons to drop. And one of them will be the inferior choices.

Having to spend a additional week to get a weapon due to constantly rolling the wrong handed weapons whichever it’d turn out

Is more irritating to the player then the transmog capabilities.

We should have a choice of how we want to play.

And that’s best done in a game which offers severa classes which use different weapons.

I play Ret because it’s 2handed and because it doesn’t dual wield. It will actively reduce my pool choice opening this to ret for the sake of a transmog that will make you unviable in content anyway.

Let’s not pretend they would balance dual wield ret.

Same with DK 2handed frost will suck dps output wise and it will never get balanced. It’s a illusion of choice. Which when it comes down to content you will just get booted out the group for using it.

Not really if you choose what you wanna go for and then go for it.

Wont happen if they played it right. Ez thing to solve from the developers. Its clearly possible for Frost DKs.

I believe more choices and more variation is a genuine positive thing.

You dont know how a fictional thing would be, neither do i, but it comes down on how they develope it - Im saying it CAN be done.

A weapon specialization doesnt make you unviable. You believe Frost DK will be unviable because of 1h vs 2h?

Getting 2h (Allthough not removing dual wield) is welcomed by most Frost DKs as far as i have seen.

Viabiliy is in a large scale a myth anyway, any class/spec is viable played right until you reach a certain high level that most players never will experience anyway.

Allthough people choose not to invite certain specs all the time “lol kek cz method sadd on stream thatz frost dk is no good in their +25 so u no get invite to my +10 m8”

Community has brainwashed themselves into thinking spec is everything, but its not the case in a +15, the player is everything.

Its like gymbros “lol roflmao ronnie coleman ate this much of this and that then and then so imma gonna eat this much of this and that then and then and then imma be huge like ronnie coleman”

I think you’ve miss read what I’m saying.

I’m saying that in personal loot, it drops anything avaliable to you from said boss.

Which means you will at the end of a M+ run have a equal chance of a 2handed and 1 handed weapon coming out that chest.

If 2hander v Dual wield, have a 20% dps difference, you will feel dissapointed if you drop a dual wield weapon knowing if it was 2handed you’d of had a larger dps gain.

This diluting the loot pool for the worse.

2handed frost did low dps since it’s birth, it was a terrible specc from a dps point of view and yes back in mop we saw at times it was a upgrade.

Because titanforging. With it gone there’s no way your gonna have weapons dropping at a drastically higher ilevel then the content offers. So getting weapons that
Much higher then ur current ones become so much more rare later into the game.

I don’t think frost DK will be unviable. I think the meta will prove dual wield is by far superior to 2handed for Frost DK. And this change will just leave them selling most of their weapon drops to vendors or holding em in their bags for ilevel.

1handed and 2handed are iconic to FDK and WW monks.

Survival and ret won’t see these changes. SL is restoring old features classes had, and this is not something that was ever given to these2 options

The argument is.

A portion of FDKs rolled a FDK for the 2handed gameplay.

No one rolled the Ret paladin for its dual wield gameplay.

Therefore one has a much larger reason to return then the other. And I don’t think lumbering the playerbase of the class with Dual wielding (which the community has never asked for in 15 years of the classes life span) should be the fix we Get.

It will make RNG that much worse as it increases the quantity of bad items that could drop.

For very little gain at all. I’d argue it’d be nice to have a fourth specc as a dual wielding option. But not hybridising rets power even further

Ofcourse it can be balanced. This is blizzard it WONT be balanced.

We have sat on the same meta for 4 years now… they never change this crap up.

Sure… Why not?

But why would you?

It’s a royal pain in the butt when gearing and that second dagger/sword/mace/fist weapon/axe refuses to drop…

Because he wants to wear thunderfury without rolling a DW class :stuck_out_tongue:

That blade is ugly as butt…
But who am I to criticize the taste of others?

Enjoy your butt-sword OP.

Imo I don’t like ret as dual wield class. Let’s stay same as before.

Ashbringer for the life.

Survival hunter was a ranged spec from the start, like any other hunter spec… was it not?

It was changed to be solely focused on melee.

Paladin DPS is a single two handed sword or weapon, not two one handed or two two handed.

Anything else is fudging the class.

And let rogues use 2handed weapons.
Or even better 2 2h weapons.

Well the decision to let warrior dual wield 2h weapons was crazy enough so.

Why have not anyone mention the gloriest posibility of them all ?

Dual wield shields !
and for caster
Dual wield staffs and option to pin up your off hands to your belt.
And ofc tripple wield rogue, my dream.
And quatro wield + dual shield wield for new shivarra race !

Very progressive.

Forget dual wielding. I would like our holy 2 hand artefacts from Legion to be transmoggable to ret spec. Some of those hammers are beauties.

No warrior or soldier in historical reality, templar knights among them, ever seriously fought with two weapons (outside a small parrying blade or spiked buckler, if you count those as dual wield weapons). Dual wielding is strictly a fantasy game/movie trope ever since early role playing game authors somehow landed on the completely ridiculous notion that doubling the swords would double the slashing and stabbing.

Also, medieval knights in particular were not super soldiers with special training in an entire arsenal of junk. That’s another fantasy trope. They were glorified thugs with enough money to afford a horse and a set of decent armor. That didn’t magically make them proficient with an encyclopedia of arms and armor.
