Honestly, Prot or Holy Paladin or Vengeance DH are your only options for PVE (I don’t care enough about PVP to look that one up).

Havoc and Ret aren’t exactly the best specs right now.

What you mean? ret is always bomb!

Ret is a little lower on dmg, but has more survival, you can solo about anything in the world.

When you compare how Prot and Holy are performing at the moment, it makes no sense to play Ret what so ever.

For pvp Ret. You can one shot pretty much anyone and sometimes more then one player in one setup. DH in pvp is ok not great, not terrible.

Ok what about fury warrior then?

Havoc will be better in most solo content, altho paladins will have an easier time with more challenging solo content such as mythic legacy raids.

The sheer mobility of havoc DHs make them really great if all you’re doing is open world content.

Havocs will have a slot in raids thanks to their +5% Magic dmg debuff and have been innthe middle of the pack so far iirc.

As for M+ or PvP idk honestly.

Paladins are immortal (all 3 specs in all content), problem is their wheelchair mobility.

Havoc DH is average for PVP and pretty decent for PVE.

Vengeance is quite strong for PVE, not exactly immortal like Pally or Blood DK but it’s pretty solid.

If you don’t mind being mortal, DH is funnier with their mobility and spammy rotation.

It doesn’t make any sense to go prot or holy when you want to dps…
Why are you even comparing specs that have different jobs?

Dh is better in PVE and PVP than ret.

Necro havoc is pretty good for pvp, fae for m+. Dh mobility is something that can completely ruin other classes for you. It will be hard for you to give it up once you get used to it. For me personally, everything is much easier and more fun with a dh. A simple and fairly well-designed class. My only complaint is the not so great defense inside pvp, although necro covenant improves that segment a bit.

Paladin and dh are completely different, not comparable at all. You have to figure out what you prefer. Ret has always been more of a support spec for me, while havoc a real dps spec.

Because those queues are going to get shorter with more DPS in the game x)

Jobs? you have the wrong game my friend. This game has Specs. I and the player asked for advice on what Spec to play in their 2 chosen Classes. I advised they might have a better time trying one of the other specs.

Ret itself, DH gets boring overtime. + It’s better to have 3 specs than 2 specs.

The play-style matters more than queues, why would someone play something they don’t like?

The specs are in 3 different categories, why are you advising changing the type of role when the OP is obviously interested in DPS?
It’s nonsense to recommend something like that.

I’m just trying to be helpful. But it’s clear that my knowledge isn’t needed here.

Good day and Merry Christmas.

No need to go salty though… just go.

You can see from the comments here that you’ll need to try both.

Like Uldren, I find that every class (except perhaps druid) is less fun than DH because of DH’s insane mobility. Havoc isn’t bad; it just slipped from god-tier at the end of BfA, so it isn’t as good as it was back then. Which is fair. Likewise, ret pally isn’t bad, as long as you don’t mind the poor mobility. I have guildies who have mained ret since ‘forever’ and they do some crazy damage.

My perception of their ability to survive in solo content is that ret has more ‘oh, crap’ buttons, while havoc needs to use its mobility sometimes to run away. (I find single mobs with high HP difficult to solo as havoc and I always try to pull in some small ones that will die during the fight and give me soul fragments for self-heal.)

But both classes also have a tank spec, so you can change spec for solo content that you’re not able to survive as dps.

can be fun In rbgs, put in top pvp arms is always the way to go!

The one that you can be bothered to learn, gear and master while having fun in the process. It’s never the “meta way or the highway” regardless of what some people might think.
