Since patch 8.2.5 nameplates shows from 60 yards.
Usualy i use addons such as kui_nameplates or advancedinterfaceoptions to show nameplates max distance 40y, or i use script command:
/run SetCVar(“nameplateMaxDistance”, 40)
But since patch 8.2.5 that “things” doesnt work. Even config-cache.wtf shows 40y, but in game it is 60y always.
Playing as caster and see nameplates above 40y is annoying, specialy in PvP situations. It looks so wierd - in classic not more then 20y, and in retail not less then 60y. It is joke?
Is there another solution to fix that problem?
Not really no, they unhooked that cvar in both classic and retail, because reasons
What is the reason to no be able to set nameplate max distance to 40y in retail?
What is the point of 60y?
I understand i guees, they just disabled that script because of Classic, but omg why retail… or this options are connected in both games
The scientific notation exploit for classic was also usable in retail and they lazily used the same fix
Exactly, last time in BG i saw 40 nameplates, everytime i wanted to DOT someone he was too far away from me, what a BS. Now i need to target that nameplate and look on my spell when it turns white from red, dumb.
This has annoyed me too since patch. Most significantly for as long as I can remember I would have nameplate range at 40 yards because that’s my cast distance. It meant that I always knew that if I can see a nameplate, I can cast on it and now that’s been changed. It results in many failed attempts to dot targets with mouseovers
