Hello,
Shadowlands so far has been unplayable for me because my game tends to crash around once every half hour or so. Sometimes it crashes twice in ten minutes, sometimes it doesn’t crash for a whole hour but I don’t think I’ve ever gone longer than an hour without a crash. I’ve been having this issue now since pre-patch. I didn’t make too much of it because I was just levelling characters. Now however, I can’t do any raids or mythic dungeons because of this issue and so playing is pointless for me.
The error code I got on my last crash just now was F4816E90-C461-4DF3-9632-67E281691DBD. The error message is error 132: fatal exception.
ProcessID: 1956
ThreadID: 17172
Exception: ACCESS_VIOLATION
“The instruction at ‘0x000007ff6a50b3850’ referenced memory at 0x(whole bunch of zeros)238. The memory could not be read”.
Things I’ve tried:
Reinstall the game
Run the repair tool
Reinstall battle.net client
Delete Interface, WTF and Cache folders multiple times
Delete all addons
Update my GPU drivers (since this issue started I must’ve gone through ten different drivers and yes they are up to date now as well)
(edit: I also did a wipe and then a clean install of my drivers using DDU)
Disable DVR app in xbox and disable the xbox app entirely
Defragged my C drive on which the game is installed
Maybe unrelated to the issue but a lot of the times when I log in all of my UI settings have been reset (although my keybinds remain intact).
Specs: 16gb ddr4 ram (3000MHz), GTX 1070, i5 6600k
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I cannot keep playing like this. Thank you

Hi Linkinroach,
Honestly I am feeling your pain.
I recently upgraded my GPU to the new RTX 3070.
And honestly I am experiencing the same issue as yourself, all I want to do is just sit and play w0w and enjoy it but unfortunately like yourself the crash just will happen very unexpectedly. Almost like you have a glimpse of hope that its all running okay and then crash.
And even to try and replicate it “at least for me is hard” As there is no specific point or area.
What I will say is the following I previously had a Radeon GPU and this did not happen.
Honestly my assumption is a driver issue. Granted we both could have faulty GPUs thou more like in your case than mine but again debateable.
I also thought it was maybe related to RTX shadows because I was running with it on, but it makes no odds the game still crashes.
The only things I will say or ask in this situation is the following:
Do you play full screen or windowed?
Vsync On or Off?
What version of /build of windows are you running?
A lot of the “research” I have tried to find out what the crash means but being the RTX 3070 is so new its very hard to find anything at the time.
The one conclusion that a lot of error 132 seem to resort to changing from Dx12 to Dx11 or DX 11 legacy. Now this I have not done thou I almost feel its pointless when you have premium GPUS to play a game in old style tech if that makes sense.
I also thought it might be my over clock or my psu dying but again ran perfectly fine on my old gpu.
Let me know your responses to the above.
Hey,
I play in windowed borderless but have tried running it in full screen but i still get crashes.
Vsync is turned off and I use gsync (compatible), but I’ve also tried turning vsync on but that also doesn’t help.
Running windows 10 pro, version 2004, build 19041.685.
Don’t really think my GPU is faulty seeing as I don’t have crashes in any other game.
Thanks for the help. Very frustrating issue indeed. Honestly barely played wow these past few days.
