Ret/prot balance suggestions in patch 9.1.5

They should definitely give us battle rez. It was originally our skill.

Yes, they need to give something. Ret is performing always bottom DPS when I am running keys. The spec itself needs a DPS boost and a utility boost. Nobody picks Ret paladins on higher keys, its always the same classes, hunters/druids/monks/mages.

Paladin’s main problem is the same as rogue’s. This idiotic burst design that is being pushed in our face since 9.0. It is horrible in PvE and it is a meme in PvP.

You can burst smaller pulls on low keys and undergeared ppl in arenas but outside of that it has 0 benefit and the wet noodle sustain damage outside of the burst window is extremely disappointing.

Don’t get me wrong it is nothing wrong with having a burst meme / glasscannon spec for a full dps class like arcane mage or MM hunter to have some fun but for a hybrid it is absolutely not viable.

Paladins should be about heavy sustain that rotates around holy power management maybe to throw in some utility / heal procs not about Swity oneshots. Also the ability to burst during bubble is beyond my comprehension.

lol wut? rogue has one of the best toolkit in the game and can be used of a metric ton of strategies and for you is in the same spot of the paladin that has wing and nothing else?

If you could went your personal disappointment on others that would be lovely. You are not even arguing about what I’ve written.

There is nothing to argue. Comparing the dmg profile of the rogue to the one of the ret without taking into consideration everything else that both class can or cannot bring makes no sense whatsoever.

Those Swifty one-shots is the only thing going for Ret paladins, the “Execution spec” for the smaller mobs. I agree we need good sustain, good Utility(They had one in BFA, despite being kinda crap, the blessings) and a 10% DPS buff.

They gave DH at least a 10% DPS buff since launch if not more since they cried on forums, now they are the most used DPS in 20+ keys and higher. Retribution is one of the lowest, no one would take Ret paladins, other DPs classes are just superior in many ways, especially in utlity. Wasn’t this class supposed to be about utility since Vanilla? why they changed that?

First you said I was comparing the toolkits now you are saying I’m comparing the damage profiles meanwhile I was talking about the nonsensical game design but yes sure mate, you are 100% right and I’m wrong. You won. Enjoy.

Anyways.

Literally everyone knew that Blizzard will be unable to manage 5 borrowed power systems and the alpha and beta testers were EXTREMELY articulate about it too. Yet here we are 18 months into the release and Blizzard is completely unable to finetune a spec (a SPEC, not even a full class) to an agreeable level throughout all game modes.

They would like to but they can’t. The complexity is so huge that it would take simply too much time to come up with the solution. With a reduced, unmotivated stuff that also has to do bugfixing and deliver new content it is just simply undoable.

Just think about how many specs were “redesigned” recently just to turn out to be OP as f* and then burned to the ground in the next hotfix.

Hi
