What that have to do with the issue in this topic, its basic you click character it usually retrieves realm list when the character is on different realm, but since it was stuck doing so it just assumes you character is on same selected realm which is it not, following up with character not found error.
And to fix that you would manually switch realm first but except that would not work either cos it was stuck on retrieving realm list which both fixed least for me.
What you suggesting is to disable any loading of world critical stuff player models textures etc which has nothing to do with the issue, if anything you potentially breaking some one game because they have no idea what they are changing.

He acts cool by suggesting cvars to add to config.wtf, but they have nothing to do with the problem I mentioned for two reasons…
The latest CVARs he suggested only work when you log in to your character, not when you get to the character selection screen or Realm selection screen.
If he had read my posts or the blue above him or any blue regarding the situation, he would know that they forced the realm selection screen while they fix a problem…

As mentioned in the other thread, we have reactivated the realm auto-login yesterday.
If you modified your config.wtf file as well, could you remove the SET disableAutoRealmSelect "1" and try again please? If the issue happens again after that, please do let us know:

No realm list popup anymore and can log characters on different realms again, it also retrieves realm list when i click realms again.
And as of after maintenance today the realm list popping up again, i am guessing the issue is back and there some sort of DNS caching issue causing these problems.
