No, problem with new servers is not cost (if you know something about distributed systems, cost of 10 lesser servers will be almost the same as 1 big server). Main problem is that classic era population is very unstable, before era hype that began in Feb-March 2023, population was really low, 2-3 raiding guilds for all EU servers, now we have bigger population, but later it can decrease again to 2-3 raiding guilds (for example if blizzard open SoM-2 or classic+), I don’t think that opening new servers is good idea in this situation, because population is very unstable and can decrease later, and blizzard will have to merge servers again later, layers are much more flexible solution and it doesn’t have really big disadvantages (I haven’t seen any objective reason in this thread why layers is bad idea, maybe you will say why?)
While i was leveling my character, i saw people vanashing and new people spawning, thats annoying. so if the server do not cost anything, than it would be the best idea to do it because if the population gets lower they can close them since its for free. so your point makes really no sense

Why this is annoying? In normal situation people can log out and log in too.
for me it is annoying and this is my point, it feels completly different then someone logging out because he is sitting. my point is valid and this is a reason to not bring back layering. and now stop saying that we have no reasons if we are against layering

Ok, what you suggest to do in current situation? Open new servers and merge them again after 2-3 months? Do you really thing that it is better solution then layering, and people spawning that you see only once in 30-60 minutes? It looks the same as just mob spawning, idk why it is so annoying for you.
Accept my point and your life will be easier, you don’t need to understund anything what i write. it doesn’t feels right for me i don’t like to see it. thats enough i don’t need to justify myself about how i feel about layering or anything else.
15,000 players you say ?
What I find funny is, big private servers like Northdale could handle 14,000 players at the same time, without any lag whatsoever.
So my question is, how were these guys, running a bootleg product from basements, able to do it but multi billions dollars company , official owner of the license SOMEHOW can’t ?
I have to admit I’m a bit confused.
