Return of the Lich king after Shadowlands

It’s so obvious at this point that this SL stuff is leading to either a new lich king, the return of arthas or sylvanas as the lich queen.

Not really tbh, I would expect Yrel Holy Crusade way more when I went out of SL than fighting undead again

What?

No it isn’t. You’re just guessing.

Lich Milking from blizzard it’s what i call!
I hope they don’t mess up probably one of their best lore, bring the best writers in town this is a hit or miss with very little room for mistake.

Lich Queen would be an interesting twist but I don’t think they’d trust her with that power.

lmaoooooo, inb4 you are gonna be dissapointed.

I don’t think we need another expansion based around Sylvanas, she’s had enough screen time already. Either kill her off, redeem her (both will annoy people), or put her on a Draenei ship and blast her off into space for a couple of years.

Not that I’m that keen on another LK expansion either, some new ideas would be great. Take a breather, before we jump back to repeating the old stuff again.

And Illidan also didn’t come back. As far as we can tell they retconned Arthas’ demise so he can be back in this expansion. Besides that, he also got a new model in BfA which will only add fuel to the discussion.

But let’s face it, it is highly possible that some characters can return to the main lore. Kael’thas, Garrosh, Arthas. We’ll see how it turns out in the end but after the disastrous reception of BfA… this is another dream come true-expansion, like Legion with Illidan.

Sylvanas is already the new Lich Queen. Spoilers…

Quest text when talking to Bolvar talks of how her soul became bonded to the Helm when she shattered it (I don’t know how this works either). If I remember right the quest called her the Lich Queen.

Why would Azeroth need one, when the scourge will be dealt with pre patch. We can speculate that the lich king was a pawn of the jailer using the power of the maw.

I reckon the nathrezim/burning legion made a deal with the jailer resulting in the lich king that would benefit both sides. The maw is inescapable unless by first one waystones.

There is now way artifacts would leave the maw without the jailer knowing. He probably sent them to Azeroth then.

I wonder if the jailer and Sargeras had a plan or something.

Given that Arthas was a popular villain, I’m not sure if Blizzard would risk that by redoing it with Sylvanas. Granted, they replaced Arthas with Bolvar but he was fairly muted in comparison. I doubt Sylvanas would be so reserved!

I’m going to guess that Sylvanas will get her comeuppance by becoming a Jailer-like character. Stuck in the very “prison” that she’s trying to set us all free from.

As far as i can see they didn’t retcon his demise (if they did can you point it out i may have just missed it)? He died on icecrown but, as with anything on Azeroth, his soul went into the shadowlands and specifically the maw. Pretty sure we’ll see him in there at some point in the expansion.

Can you spare a minute to discuss my lord and savior His Grace, Arthas Menethil, First of His Name , King of Northrend & Ruler of the scourge, creator of the one true Hero Class the Death Knights , Rightful Ruler of Azeroth, Outlands & Draenor soon to be Conqueror of the Shadowlands and Death itself. All hail the true King.

But unfortunately I can not see him being returned to us as he was. He is captured being tortured and mutilated in the maw his very existence being twisted we must save my lord but I fear he will not be the same. The very power he weilded is being used against him I fear it is too late. Who knows what grotesque he is being turned in to all is lost.

We’d all forgotten about Bolvar until now though. He just quietly did his thing so the undead wouldn’t be out of control.

I have no idea what they intend to do with Sylvanas but time will tell.

Puts a bag of 50K gold on the table I bet it all on that!
