Hey so I haven’t played the game in years, Legion was last serious expansion and maybe a little bit of Shadowlands which I promptly skipped and quit because how bad the story was going. I haven’t played Dragonflight yet at all but I hear it’s quite good.
So much has changed tbh it’s a bit overwhelming to continue my current characters so I like to go from scratch leveling all the way to 60 and continue into DF. But I like a story experience that “makes sense”, I don’t care really how fast or how slow the leveling is.
I know nothing about DF but I hear it doesn’t really continue the story from Shadowlands, so I can freely skip SL. Legion was great for artifact weapons so I’d like to play a zone maybe there. Cataclysm zones are also pretty nice, and maybe MoP? Is leveling per zone like 10 levels? So can I pick 6 zones total? WoD I can probably safely skip too because of the weird time-travel nonsense with that expansion.
Another question though I remember that in your capital city SW/Orgri, there were always quests npc’s shouting at you to start the new expansion quest-line. Is this still ingame? e.g. No matter what chromie zone I do, and even after 60, these quests npcs are still bugging me to start Shadowlands, or Legion, or whatever?
IF you don’t play your current characters for a certain amount of time you will be offered a reset on tthem, with a full set of almost dungeon gear and the ability to whipe their quest logs for exactly this scenario.
This will be difficult to almost impossible depending on how you look at it since DF doesn’t continue a story, and their story is completely contained within dragonflight and the upcoming expansions, so any story before is irrelevant, so I would personally go for WoD as the lvling is fast and the vibe of being a hero/commander is cool imo but if you dislike it I would go mop if you are looking for good vibes and a good overall experience.
Once you hit lvl 60 you will recieve an automatic quest to return and start DF but you can ignore it till 61 where you will then be forcefully pulled from the timeways to your capital city.
Leveling will be blazing fast.
If you like one zone, keep doing it. If you don’t, just go somewhere else because it doesn’t really matter and during the period of 1-60 you’ll barely have realistic time to catch a single story from start to end.
After 60, then you can dedicate to the new story 'til you get to 70.
After you reach 70, you can go back and do older stories at your pace.
Thanks, I think I will be playing a void elf so I’ll just select a few zones that fit for that race and call it at that. It sounds like leveling is really quick now
BFA has some good stories in their zones. The overall campaign story wasn’t very good (bad in places). But Drustvar and Nazmir had good stories. Tirasgarde and Zul dazor were pretty good too.
So I’d recommend BFA zones for their own stories, don’t worry too much about the War stuff though, it amounts to very little in the end.
