Returning Player here, cancelled my subscription in 2011, had a 3-4 high level characters at the time but no recollection of the realm I was on.
Troll Mage
Undead Priest
Paladin etc
Have tried all the fixes from the frequently asked questions but they still have not appeared. Put in a support ticket but looks like I wont hear back for 10+ days.
Any other ways I can find my characters?

i think 9 years is enough to delete them, also they weren’t high level throughout expansions, they would be 80 in WotLK but now with level cap 120 they would be considered low levels anyway.
So if I am lucky any characters above level 50 may still be salvageable?
What is the character restoration systems, is that something I access or Blizzard?
Read this:
Make sure the realm list is sorted by “amount of characters you have there”, the realm should show at the top (or bottom) of list then.
Otherwise, try starting the Item Recovery self-service support option.

One of the first steps in that tool should list all the characters you have (on all realms)
The character restoration thing only applies if you deleted your characters.
