Hey there so I have been trying to get back into RP after some years being gone from the scene and I was just wondering how things are these days.
I have heard from friends that things are not as active outside of guilds now.
Any info or just straight up news from what has been happening in my absence would be good to hear. ( While I have not RPed I have played the game but I have not been in the RP scene for quite a while. )
That’s about the most accurate summary I think! Hordeside, things are a bit more guild-based nowadays.
I’m sure if you have a character you enjoy playing and stick some info about them here, people will be happy to recommend you a fitting gang to hang out with! It’s how it usually goes, anyhow.
I have always known and experienced that there is generally more going on the Alliance side of it. But I have to be honest and say I didn’t think what my friends said was true about how it has become.
In general I have tried to do believable Warlock RP but I usually find that I will be ignored outright even if I try to subtle and not at all the ¨In your face flaunt it¨ style you know.
Like Zuukah mentioned above, the Horde side has suffered in number the recent years. But, there are some great initiatives and Discord servers with passionate people that I personally do not worry for the Horde side of RP.
And that’s where a lot of RP connections can be made nowadays: Discord. I recommend you look into the AD Discord and other such servers where the community connects and announces public events.
As for the Alliance, I’d say that they are as bustling as ever. And where there is a greater number of people, so too is there a great variety of views of what ‘RP’ should even be. Yet fret not! There are diamonds to be found in the rough of it all.
On a sidenote: Dragonflight has been generally seen as a positive expansion and returned quite a few players to the scene. With promising expansions on the horizon, I’d like to think that the RP scene stands only to gain.
There is the cross roads social events, Kosh’harg, plenty of other social stuff on horde side that dont require a guild and as Consumer said, there is the discord servers which helps.
I can’t speak for Horde side RP. Here are the two communities I am qualified to talk about, though:
Dalaran remains a neutral RP hub, with a social market night every Tuesday and at least two mage guilds (Kirin Tor Intelligence and the elf-themed Quel’elhera Academy).
Night elf RP has experienced a massive resurgence with the launch of Amirdrassil and Bel’ameth, with casual RP every evening and a series of events by Acrona and others.
