Returning to RP after a long time away? Any advice for Horde RP?

Hi there,

So I’ve read the amazing thread by Acrona (thank you) and am leveling a brand new character on the Horde side because I used to RP a lot on Alliance and really would love to give Horde a chance this time.

I headed over to the Valley of Wisdom as suggested but found it very empty (granted it is patch week) but couldn’t find much RP.

Where should I look for Horde RP, or if that fails specifically Blood Elf RP. I have read the conclave thread but as my character would be new I’d doubt he’d be invited etc.

Also, I’ve heard Stromgarde and Gilneas are the places to go for Alliance RP? Is this true?

Hello Lyrimar!

I don’t know about Horde RP in general, but blood elf RP seems quite active to me. I have been to a few blood elf events around Silvermoon and Eversong, most recently the market just outside the Silvermoon gate. They are advertised on the Argent Archives.

I don’t know what Orgrimmar is like, though. You say you went to the Valley of Wisdom — did you mean the Valley of Honor, perhaps? That’s where walk-in RP used to be during BfA, but I don’t know what it’s like now.

As for Alliance RP, from my experience, Stromgarde is a hub for walk-in RP while Gilneas is mostly active during events. Bel’ameth has also been relatively active recently as a smaller hub focused on night elf RP.

I am on my blood elves recently, trying to be active for Midnight and there is RP happening around Silvermoon.

And yes as Lintian said, Gilneas and Stromgarde have strong communities should you wish to go Alliance.

Yes Valley of Honor my apologies! But yeah it seemed so dead, I’ll give Silvermoon a try once I get this guy to level 80.

Largely, Horde RP is not hub-based, it’s event-based and guild-based. Orgrimmar isn’t going to be busy unless a guild is passing through at the time.

Regular RP events include:

  • Neutral markets in the Jade Forest on Tuesdays.
  • Crossroads social events on Sundays.
  • Orgrimmar markets on the first Sunday of every month.
  • Other events can be found on the Horde RP Discord server here: https://discord.gg/YZhdZjQJ
  • Other Discord servers that pander to the particular themes that you’re looking for in your RP.

Just sitting in Silvermoon City or Orgrimmar waiting for RP to show up is a good way to end up bored and disillusioned and switching over to the Alliance instead.

I would absolutely recommend looking for a guild. But also Silvermoon is definitely worth checking out. While I almost never attend the public events, theres been more of them recently happening there and even without them whenever I hopped on my belf alt pretty much everytime this year, there was always a bunch of people hanging around the city

It’s summer time, which kind of has lower attendance to anything being organised.
It will probably pick up again near the end of the month.

Orgrimmar is definitely a place to find RP, but you might need to engage a bit yourself.
There’s also the weekly gathering on sundays at the crossroads, there’s the monthly Orgrimmar market and Booty Bay events. I highly recommend to attend these and try to make friends/connections for your character. The rest will flow from that.

As for Belf specific RP, I’m not too familiar with that.
There used to be activity in Silvermoon, and there’s a market being organised every first Wednesday of the month just outside the city.
