Yeah I think it sucks that it becomes available so late on as it does.

You come back a few weeks later and think. Hey? Maybe i’ll try my X alt or class out.
You do a few mythics and whoopdie doo. All the loot you receive will literally gimp you back from the lower ilvl tier pieces you have already got.
On my mage I recieved a 437 pair of pants today. Compared to my 398 ilvl ones.
Well if i chose to use those I would loose out on my previous tier set bonus and allot of dps.
I feel like unless i played my main and my alt at the same time as the patch launched? I would have fallen behind. …Now all I can do as far as any new character I want to play or alts. Is just wait until the cataclyst releases.
In the meanwhile… All the new gear ive got will just rest here in my bags.
Same for me. I will play M+ for some drops since I don’t have the right stats from the tier set this season. Since it’s 4/5 required for the full bonus I can eliminate some unwanted stat points.
But overall it means I will also just wait for the Catalyst to go live. I already got the chest piece from the Paladin set, so no need to convert one of those. And since I am not a GS/ilvl grinder in WoW I am totally fine with 424 GS in the end.
My mage has got all the tier pieces 4/4 full set. But none of those pieces can be replaced xD
So in essence. If I where to catch up on my alt to the current players doing m+ I am screwed… We are all held back until the cataclyst releases.
Our item level is already behind. But now we cant even improve that. Until the Cataclyst releases… I mean we could? But we would be a really bad addition to the group.
To be honest this isn’t really a new thing, nor is it just an issue that alts are suffering from.
This character of mine started with 10 slots pre-emptively locked for the season. I had two embellished pieces that are locked for this tier, 4 tier pieces (realistically 2 for Brewmaster, but up to 4 on WW spec), 2 trinkets (as only two raid trinkets are an upgrade to me from the later bosses, but those trinkets are broken) and 2 rings (annulet and fire ring from previous tier).
Out of this 10 the trinkets I have upgrades for now, but any trinket that dropped prior was a direct downgrade to my previous season’s trinket. Even not counting that half of my gear slots I have were already locked when the tier started.
My mage has less of this issue, as an alt the only slots locked to him are the embellished pieces (that I will have to swap) and the 4 tier pieces. It does not help on the situation that most of the gear that dropped for me thus far dropped to those tier piece slots.
The revival catalyst should have never been added to the game, it has made people so impatient. Why do you even want a full tier set within the first couple of weeks? So you can quit playing untill next patch? Up untill 9.2 we didnt have a revival catalyst, and people still got the gear they wanted eventually.
Sort of regret making this thread… But no I am not wanting this so I can quit playing until the next patch -.- I want this so I can play my other characters.
I can’t progress up in key levels in m+ or be of any use in raids when my item level and all is being held back by this on my alt character is all…
Your right that I am impatient. But thats because I want to play my alts now right away. And not be held back by the catalyst release. Sorry thats all there is too it.

You are doing 14-17 keys and have 429 itlv. Lack of tier is not the reason you cannot push more. Gotta farm those wyrm / aspect crests and hit 440 itlv if you are semi - serious about pushing
Are your tier set bonuses from S1 that strong? I know balance druid’s 4-set bonus was nerfed by 80% to incentivize replacing it, otherwise it would still be BIS.
They meant in comparison to your set bonus from the previous tier. Sometimes specs old sets are strong enough that using 2set from the new set and 2set from the old set is worse than the old 4set, and they need to wait until they have all 4 pieces for it to be worth to swap over.
Usually old set bonuses will beat out high ilvl gear in almost every case. I think the only ones it doesn’t are like DH.
Blizzard tend to step in and nerf old set bonuses when they’re strong enough to stop people wearing new ones, even if there’s a big ilvl difference. it’s kinda assumed the only thing in season B that will replace tier A is the tier from season B.
So your telling me raidbots is right essentially… And that I should wait for the cataclyst to play my alts. Your confirming it? I am not crazy over here? The old tier set bonuses matters… replacing them sets us back.
Typically yes, this is correct, though I would not necessarily say this is a reason not to play an alt. Sometimes tier bonuses matter a lot, sometimes not so much as it depends on the spec, and there are also far more slots to upgrade than just tier. It’s not less efficient to play your alt now, you’ll just have to wait for the catalyst to upgrade a few of the slots.
