Hi!
Played a couple of dungeons with Rewind Time as a healer mage, now that it’s a wrist rune.
This has caused some interesting rotation changes. I was used to batching Arcane Blast with the first Regeneration cast, but this has changed with rewind time requiring to be active for 5 seconds on your target in order to be effective. Now I precast Regen before pull in order to have a Rewind Time ready.
I’m just having a couple of issues concerning the rune:
-
Ineffective with temporal beacon refresh
If I reapply the buff before it falls off and cast Rewind Time right after it heals for 0 (zero) damage. This also have a weird interaction with Regeneration now refreshing temporal beacon on every tick, meaning I have to wait for 5 seconds after the end of the channel. (btw I think this new tick-refreshing thing on regen is a good change, can’t understand why it does not happen with mass regeneration as well) -
Ineffective against Life Tap Damage (and possibly against other forms of dmg)
I tested this with a warlock: life tap damage is not healed by rewind time. This is honestly an issue when running with a warlock tank. I’m not sure this is intended, given the description of the spell. It seems (but this is personally untested information I got from mage discord) other forms of (mostly environmental) damage are also not being healed by rewind time. -
Very susceptible to purges
This point may be just a design choice. It happens that, if an enemy purges your temporal beacon on the target, you then have to a) reapply it and b) wait 5 seconds before rewind time becomes effective again. I feel like gameplay-wise this goes against the concept of having an emergency healing button.
If my tank loses his temporal beacon it means my hps drops until I manage to reapply it. So I expect his health to go down and I’d like to use a button like Rewind Time to get back on the offensive. But, since I have to wait 5 seconds, the spell won’t be available.
Maybe in order to fix a couple of those issues you could flex one of the prereq of rewind time. Either make it castable on targets with an active temporal beacon or on targets who had temporal beacon 5 seconds ago (and not necessarily with an active one), but not both.
