It’s really just dumb how it works now. I’ve been doing an instance and ppl were voting to kick a player with a reason “zzz”, literally. I voted against but probably 3 another persons voted “yes” and guy was kicked out with a 30 min penalty. I didn’t really bother to check his DPS, he might be just new to the game. There was no conversation, nobody pointed out to the person what he did wrong. This is not how social game should work.

If I’m not mistaken, there was short period of time once RDF tool was introduced back then in original WotLK, where you would get 30 min penalty only if you left the group on your own, hence the name: “Deserter”.
People were however being nuisance to the rest of the group in order to get themselves kicked out and avoid the penalty.
Amusingly enough, I never experienced getting myself kicked during WotLK Classic. Neither from standard, heroic or titan rune difficulty.
It only got this wild in CATA, where I got kicked for no reason dozen of times, and only response you get on forum is that “players are allowed to vote kick for any reason, or no reason at all” and thus there is nothing wrong with this system.
Blizzard’s statement is that “If you got removed from the group, you deserve the 30 minutes penalty. Period.”

I find it annoying that leaving the dungeon after someone leaves still gives me the debuff.

Is this such a big issue though? If they act that way, kick them and get a replacement. I kinda think its worse kicking people when they don’t deserve kick.

I just reached level 80 yesterday, and after doing some quests in Hyjal, I reached required iLvl for TotT and BRC via RDF.
Just as expected, the group for my first CATA dungeon after reaching level 80 was quite toxic. There was priest who rolled need on green AGI ring for DE without asking.
Since I just reached lvl 80, it was major upgrade to me compared to the stuff from WotLK dungeons and quests.
I didn’t made any theatrics because of that, just asking why priest rolling on AGI ring, and saying it’s upgrade to me.
The response I got was mockery from DK tank that I shouldn’t be crying because of that. 
Priest did offer to give me the ring, however as I myself learned recently, you can’t trade with players from different realm.
That’s the reason why I do not roll need on green items for DE any more.
Since I “stole” green upgrade from some mage before I’ve learned about cross-realm trade restrictions while doing WotLK dungeons some time back, I just let it go and participated in clearing the dungeon as normal.
The priest however ignored my HP getting low from AoE attacks like Chain Lightning, thus I died in mid-phase once adds spawn during 1st boss fight, and then again before the last boss from Swell.
Tank however immediately went ahead starting the event for last boss, locking me out, and then kicking me from dungeon.
To my surprise however, I didn’t received any penalty for being kicked from the group.
Did they changed anything, or it was because we were already at the last boss, and it never punished players for being kicked out in that situation?
