Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing well! I’ll get straight to the point.
I’ve played WoW for many years, and something has always bothered me:
Why do we have separate gear for PvP and PvE?
If I get an awesome weapon from a raid, I want it to feel just as powerful in PvP. But in WoW, PvP gear always beats PvE gear in PvP, even if the item level is the same.
I’m not asking for item level scaling. I just think all content—PvP, raids, world—should let you gear up and feel strong everywhere. It should feel like your character is growing, no matter what you play.
In other games and stories, when a hero gets a powerful weapon, it’s strong no matter who or what they fight. But in WoW, that doesn’t really happen—and to me, it breaks the immersion.
This has honestly made me quit the game many times. The gear system just doesn’t feel fun or rewarding across the whole game.
The separation of the team seems good to me. In fact, it would separate the tier bonuses as it was in the past, where the pvp team had its own tier with different effects
We’ve tried iterations where you had to pvE to pvp in effect and it was awful. I want someone’s gear advantage over me in PvP to be based on the PvP they’ve done not because they killed a dragon.
PvP thrives when the gear is separate. Even more so when we had resilience as a stat not available to pvE than now with versatility.
We have been through this is in BFA. No, thanks. I see no reason why PvE scrub should have gear advantage above me since I play only PvP. Play PvP, earn the currency, buy PvP gear. Simple.
This mentality killed PvP over time . PvP began in classic exactly because you could get a cool sword from a dragon and than go wreck some under-geared people with it for fun .
Than they gave resilience so you could fight back the guy with the dragon sword and it was good .
But PvP players always cry for balance , like they are some special cast that should get special privileges , so blizz introduced more and more equalizers .
Special pvp gear , PvP stats , Equal Gear item level . Same gear with the same stats for all . Removing toys , trinkets , bombs .
And you know what happened ? Today happened where you sit for 20-40 min in que in Prime Time to join one measly battleground , where’s I could get 30 sec queue in 6 AM 10 years ago .
You enter this battleground and it is a premade that rolls over the other team .
Dragon slayers and green geared people no longer join PvP , because it is so elitist that they are repulsed by it . And even if you join you are at the mercy of the blizzard all knowing hand making your class either OP or dead-meat . That PvP gear you carry does not change the fact that you will get pummeled into the ground , if you are on the bad side of the tuning . And even your great rare sword , grenade , trinket or some other niche mechanic that in classic could overturn this and make a trash class playable, will not save you today .
So you quit and don’t look back .
Face it . People join PvP to face roll others . They want to be the predator and not the prey .The more “equal” you make the play field , the less people play it .
That’s why premades are all over the place today . Because this is the only way you can faceroll people .
There’s so much counterexample to that.
A lot of games have a pvp where everyone is on the same lvl and get better and better just by playing and because of their stuff
During Legion, to stay in Wow, everyone were on the same lvl and personally that was one of my favorite pvp expansion so far (ok MoP still the best and i really like the WoD gearing buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut). It was just a skillckeck and we all see that russia is pretty low during this time.
Yeah, I disliked BfA PvP for this reason alone. I was always at an enormous gear disadvantage because I didn’t raid, which meant that I couldn’t do anything in PvP.
No, thanks, 100% no. The current system is fine, and PvE gear has no place in PvP.
BFA is an example of things swinging in the other way , way too much , with all those meme powers all over place .
Legion was the opposite with full equality .
Both were bad in terms of PvP .
Complete pve randomness is bad .
Complete pvp equality is also bad .
There should be a mix of both and not blocking people from joining PvP because it is treated as a separate game mode .
Most people who reply why they don’t play pvp will give you one of these two answers
1: Hard to get into
2: Stressful and sweaty .
Both of these are caused by treating the mode as some unique thing and PvP players being “different” than the dragon slayers … As mentioned keep this up and PvP in WoW will die out completely in time .
WoW is not a PvP game and you cannot treat it like CS:GO or whatever you play .
There is only one way to deal damage there and it is the figurative bullet and maybe a grenade . Everyone has it and it works the same way .
In WoW you have hundreds of spells that do hundreds of things in different ways and it will NEVER be balanced .
The only check here is how long you have played ( knowing the most amount of spells and gimmicks) and how far the pendulum of Buffing and Nerfing has slung and hit your class .
Nothing else .
People who have played this game long enough know this . Some prefer not to admit it , but it is true . There is no skill in WoW PvP or PVE . Just practice to learn your gimmick and that of others .
That’s why PvPers cry tears and howl loudly when someone talks about adding weird stuff like BFA powers , grenades , trinkets ets.
Because these are new gimmicks that screw up your perfectly executed hamster wheel performance and you suddenly loose to someone , who was not playing the hamster wheel game like you expected him to . Hence it was not Fair and needs to be nerfed
Personally i love the throwing stick into wheel spokes. I am mediocre at best when it comes to playing optimally and only time i found pvp fun is when something crazy happens in it as it actually gives me fighting chance the psychotic chase of balance to me just always ruins the actual fun every mmo offers.
My most hated thing in this game is how developers still think people want E-sports crap by removing fun toys, potions and other ways to “cheat” victory to me that was the actual fun part and i never or will never care about if the game is balaced or not because that ship sailed long ago with arrival of new classes and specs that we already have way too many for ever there to be any resemble of “balance”.
