Seeing as 80-90% of all paladins go for kyrian; instead of nerfing kyrian we could also opt for the other covenants to be more usefull.
Ie for venthyr:
lower ashen hollow’s dmg, duration, cast time and cooldown so that we get to use it more often. Aside from the fact that having a covenant with such a huge cooldown is not fun due to the fact that you simply can’t use it often.
This would also make it better fit for smaller pulls in pve and is more applicable in the fast paced pvp environment.
increase the cooldown time of door of shadows, but make it instant cast instead.
This way for pve it’s a good ‘gtfo’ button to move out of bad stuff and in pvp you can actually make use of it, instead of having a 1.5 sec cast which is easily interupted and due to the cast time makes the gained distance trivial.
I think that Kyrian is really overrated sure its the best for some Paladins but far for everyone. I do agree however that both NF and NL needs something to boost them but Venthyr doesnt. Venthyr is easily the best for both Ret & Prot when it comes to raiding and it works pretty alright in M+ aswell.
I agree that NL really needs some love. The NF blessing maintenance is just too much of a hassle at the moment to be considered usefull.
How often do you see yourself casting door of shadows in a raiding environment? Also by accepting that Venthyr is only good in raiding pigeonholes us into our choices. It is suppossed to be competitive in other areas such as pvp as well. It’s a rather flawed design if venthyr is your go to for raiding and kyrian is your go to for pvp.
Covenants should be choices and not be mandatory for the type of content that we wish to play.
I’ve absolutely no regrets as a Venthyr. The Door of Shadows has some usage across the board (beit QoL while roaming or treasure hunting, a long-cast Blinding Light tied with mobility for M+, escape from mechanics [raid or otherwise], and some limited PvP usage).
Hallow is where it shines. I have no qualms with a long CD as long as pressing it has impact - and it does - especially as Prot. There are plenty of moments in raids or M+ where on-demand burst is a huge help. While PvP does mean opponents can get out of it (if free), it can still be used on contested objectives - you simply have to be a bit smarter with it. For Raids it’s a no brainer as that is typically the most scripted environ of the bunch, so you’ll know exactly when to pop that bad boy and contribute way beyond just holding mere aggro.
I would much rather keep the longer and harder CD compared to watering it down for the sake of being able to cast it more times for less impact.
I went Kyrian in the beginning, but ended up changing to Venthyr. Not only do i think their Tmog is better, but so is their ability for what i use.
I mainly Raid, i avoid M+ like the Plague because i simply do not enjoy it. And when there is MAINLY one Enemy in a Bossfight, the Kyrian ability heavily loses its value. As opposed to Ashen Hallow which not only does decent damage even to a single enemy, but also heals my allies.
My only irk is the cast time which costs me 2, maybe 3 GCDs, but to my knowledge that, too, can be taken in later renown stages.
Ashen hollow is on 4min cd coz its an insane aoe dmg within 30 sec which can melt hunge packs of mobs in m+ and solo content like Torghast.
Door of shadow is a bit tricky coz of cast duration. I don’t use it in combat in m+ at all, only for movement in dungeon and also it helps me a lot in Torghast. In PvP you can use it but its even more tricky than its in PvE.
I don’t think Venthyr needs any changes. Its fine as it is.
If Ashen hollow was not 4 min cd, people would immediately call for its nerf coz its a really strong dps ability.
Divine Toll easily crits for 10k but even hits such as 5k without the conduit.
5k x4 since it’s a minute cd.
5k more dmg than Ashen Hallow, that’s without counting conduit procs, extra judgment damage taken from finishers and the increased Hammer of Wrath damage during AH.
Plus the HP generated 4x 1 (per enemy).
Was just talking about unbuffed median damage with some crit ticks, mostly non-crits. With Bloodlust + Wings + Trinkets its already 40k by that DoT alone (per enemy). From what I’ve heared DToll deals double the damage of a regular Judgement? Would be almost exactly 5k on average, including buffs, crits etc. Was just checking sims:
Does that conduit still procc 1-3 extra Judgements randomly on ~ every second DToll usage? If yes then it would also have to be averaged to 1 extra Judgement per DToll use by that conduit. Guess there are better options for it, for example Expurgation conduit, which is dealing like 55k damage over a 4 minute fight on my character (5.5% overall).
