Reznik not having a voice actor while the rest of the cast is voiced is unacceptable

If there are issues with the VA then just get a new guy to voice Reznik because releasing the patch/story in this state is completely unacceptable.

There’s a protest and many games are affected. Gotta bear with it till companies cave in not to use AI voices. Also it’s been months of it, it’s just that wow hasn’t had updates for a while that add story

Uhm… Why? Like I am sorry is Raznik super important or something? Lots of wow characters dont have a voice actor

I dont even know who Raznik is I am sorry <,< is he a big deal or something?

Blizzard just published a short story about Renzik some days ago, which was narrated. So obviously it’s a bit weird that when he appears in the game he’s silent whilst the other NPCs around him are voiced. Especially because he appears quite a lot, so it stands out.

I’ll also choose to believe it’s because of voice actors being on strike (although Blizzard’s commitment to voiced NPCs in WoW has always been underwhelming) because of AI.

Blizzard can of course sign an agreement with the voice actors that protect their rights – which many game companies have done – and proceed to have normal voice acting as usual. But that’s not really the side Blizzard are on in this conflict, so…

It’s very jarring. Initially I thought it was a bug, though it’s every single bit of dialogue so there will be some voice acting present for the characters Reznik is interacting with but none for Reznik himself - which is pretty immersion breaking.

It’s a shame that many American companies are effectively being held hostage by malcontents. Hopefully the company can find some decent voice actors to replace those stirring up trouble and attacking various individuals on social media for the ā€˜crime’ of holding different belief systems and opinions to themselves.

I’d much rather have authentic voice acting over AI if at all possible but creatives were gleefully laughing when technological advancements were encroaching on jobs involving manual labour, convinced that their own cushy employment would never be threatened.

Now the shoe is on the other foot and I am afraid I have no real patience or sympathy for them in turn.

It doesn’t really matter who he is or how important he is, but it really stands out when he is talking with Gazlowe, with Gazlowe being voiced while Raznik is not.

Well, this is also happening with the Spanish from Spain version of the game, the contracts of the voice actors had something related to training AIs with their voice and they didn’t accept, 10.0.7, 11.0.0 all came without dialogues, we have the translation but not the dialogues. I guess they couldn’t hire a voice actor for Renzik or he didn’t want to accept the terms of the contract.

Also Renzik’s voice when interacting is the regular voice for Goblins which has been here since Vanilla.

Agreed 100%. This feels like PTR, the conversations with Gazlowe actually hurt. It’s sad.

There’s a certain charm to having NO VOICES AT ALL. I don’t think the Fordring questline in Classic would’ve hit the same if there were voice lines. But you either DO OR DON’T.
There’s no in-between.
The patch starting like that just rubbed me off the wrong way.

It’s not a bug either, Renzik didn’t have voice lines earlier in the expansion.

Honestly, if you think the missing voice of ONE npc is tragic, then you should brace yourselves for the future.

Since the 20th Anniversary patch we’ve had ALL new npcs being completely mute in Castillian Spanish. Since Jan 2024 no more dubbing has been recorded as Spain’s voice actors requested a new contract clause which would protect their voices from being used to train AI, which Microsoft does not want. So Undermine is the third content update with no voices in npc or cinematics.

Neither MS nor Blizzard have bothered to even provide an official statement of what is going on, deliverying a product with poor quality standards whilst their clients are still paying a monthly fee subscription.

Utter shame!

What are you talking about? How are companies ā€œheld hostageā€? Workers aren’t slaves. It’s a good thing that workers are trying to protect their jobs and working terms. It’s a bad thing that greedy corporations want to increase their profits by decreasing the quality of their product. It’s bad for everyone except those companies.
