Ridiculous amount of secuirty for an online game

The amount of security involved in this game now is beyond a joke, I am stuck with an old mobile number I no longer have access to and there is no easy way to change it without contacting blizzard and going through the motions.

I am not the Pentagon, the President, FBI, CIA neither is this game. It is an online fantasy game world. From your end I imagine you must deal with a lot of hacked accounts but I bet the largest majority of the player base are never hacked.

We are forced to go through National Security like we are arming nuclear missiles or something when all I want to do is play an online game. Defcon 1? No I want to log in to world of warcraft and level my druid.

You are angry so you are hating security, if there would be an attempt to hack your account you would sing songs how Blizzard did awesome job to not let hackers get into your account. Nothing is lost, just contact Blizzard so they will help you recover your account safely.

I also dont like how I am being forced into using the authenticator so I can get my back pack upgraded, a very basic upgrade that I want without having to use the authenticator which I personally think if other people want to use it good for them but I never wanted to use other devices to confirm my log in for an online game but now I am forced into doing it to get my in game backpack upgraded.

Not happy Blizzard

Blizzard have a lawful requirement to keep your account and it’s details secure, if you can’t or won’t confirm your identity, then that’s not Blizzards fault.

These security things are there to make your accounts secure. If you don’t like it then follow their instructions and remove the authenticator, 4 slots is not a lot to lose, but you may lose your account more easily.

Yes, how dare you Blizzard “forcing” us to make our accounts more secure! HOW DARE YOU.

Are you for real? Either do what´s asked to make your account more secure or leave it. If your getting hacked, its Blizzard who has to do the work, not you.

honestly id rather run the risk of getting hacked than keep having to go through these long overly complex processes just to adjust a few small things on my account

If you had updated your phone details when you were changing it then you wouldn’t have needed to do any of this.

Heya Cedric,

I realise that having security walls and various verification steps can be a bit frustrating, when all you want is, to just spend a few hours playing, with your friends, and have a good time, instead of making tickets to us.

The problem is that a Battle.net account, has an inherent value. What I mean by that is, that you have potentially poured a lot of funds and hours into your games, hence we want to be absolutely certain that an account is secured, before making any security changes.

Having an account compromised is no laughing matter either. It is something that will affect you negatively, not only in your gameplay, but also in some cases emotionally as well. Additionally a compromised account, will not only cause damage to your characters, but it may cause harm to the in-game economy as well.

So it is in the best interest of basically everyone to have an account as secure as possible. Granted that can lead to situations that can be frustrating. It is certainly the lesser of two evils in this case though.
