Rift Archivist Codex farm - positive feedback

I’d like to give a positive feedback about the way we can recently farm Archivist Codex reputation. It’s actually nice to form a group and interact with people. Short chat between runs, joking etc. is what WoW is all about.

Previous form of just parking character in the middle of Korthia waiting for new rare and just tagging it before it dies was just boring chore that isn’t an interesting gameplay and became boring after first day.

Rift even though repetitive makes also PvP and PvE community doing something together. I don’t know if it was planned but since I heard you have a lot of talented devs just use it to your advantage and design more reps this way.

I’m going to have to read a guide on Korthia or something. My playstyle doesn’t work there. I’m barely rank 4 (nearly exalted with Death’s Advance though).
I’ve mostly done dailies and Shaping Fate fill-the-bar weeklies.

I got a quest to get 25 thingies from in a rift. Went into it the first pack of mobs needed my earth ele and CDs to kill, got one thingy. Killed a few more mobs and one dropped a thingy then ran into an Elite that demolished me. That was enough of rifts for me. I’m not buying keys to kill mobs that tough with drop rates that low.

I’ve done almost no Maw and Korthia felt better but it’s slow and unrewarding.

There are 4 chests in the rift that spawn daily, they each spawn at one of 4-5 set places. I use handy notes to track them. They give decent anima, codex and they also give 4-5 of the ‘thingies’ if you are careful enough you can do the weekly in two days without killing anything.

I’m not careful. I can’t do sneaky. I’m not good at treasure hunting.
My gear isn’t great either mostly Korthia gear at 220.

I don’t think Korthia is for me if rifts are the only viable way to get codex.
Hopefully 9.2 rep / currency grind suits me better.

I do on 8 or so characters a day most are sub 220 - did it on a freshly dinged Dh this very morning. I just buy the no daze item (comfortable riders barding) and run through the mobs to the chests. You don’t need to hunt them once you know the spawn places (which handy notes will show you)

Trust me if an old boomer like me can do it, I am sure you can. Though I have to admit Sharman is one of the hardest classes to WQ on with their paper thin defences. They seem to loose HP easier than any other class I play (I have 60s at all apart from WL and Mage)

Back in TBC it wasn’t like this. Mail armour and shield actually felt protective. Clothies were the squishy ones.

I’ve never used Handy Notes, maybe it is something I should investigate. I’m not really into treasures generally though. I hated the 100 treasures for Pathfinder back in WOD. Treasure chest feel like too much work for too little reward most of the time, if they involve cliff climbing or tree branch jumping.

These are all on the ground and (apart from one possible spawn of one) on the main island part. There are no trees etc. (I can see why people dislike the trees, after playing -now 6 DHs everything else is hard work)

Handynotes is a fantastic addon - You want the core (Handynotes) and Handynotes : Shadowlands for it to work in Korthia

Install handynotes, it’ll show you the 4 possibles locations of each 4 chests on the map.

Then you can just weave through mobs & outrun them, no need to “do sneaky” just pass a few meters away from them & you’ll be good to go.

Here’s the route i tend to do for the rift chests :

I tried to put the locations as accurately as possible but Handynotes will do a much better job in this regard.

Each chest will give you about 5 of the 25 quest items so you can just kill a few non-elites after the 4th zone and you’ll be good to go (and near the quest giver)

I didn’t mean that weekly quest or chest farming but these custom groups farming big Elite mobs.

I agree I enjoyed it as well. It actually felt a little bit like running Island Expeditions again, which was one of the best features of BFA.

They should consider adding some Transmog rewards to this farm though. And not another set of ugly shoulders like the ones from Boreghast. I mean REAL transmog, something I might actually want to wear.
